Xiaomi SU7 Ultra joins Gran Turismo 7 in new global partnership

Xiaomi’s SU7 Ultra electric vehicle joins Gran Turismo 7 in a new partnership, with future plans including a concept car co-developed with the game.

Xiaomi has announced a major partnership with Polyphony Digital, bringing its flagship electric vehicle, the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra, to the popular racing simulator Gran Turismo 7. The announcement was made at Round One of the Gran Turismo World Series 2025 and marks the first time a Xiaomi model has been featured in the Gran Turismo franchise.

Xiaomi SU7 Ultra enters the racing simulator

The Xiaomi SU7 Ultra, the company’s top-tier luxury electric vehicle, will be available in Gran Turismo 7 on both PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. Known for its realistic driving dynamics, Gran Turismo aims to mirror real-world vehicle performance, and the inclusion of the SU7 Ultra signals growing interest in high-performance electric vehicles.

The partnership builds on a meeting in May 2025 between Gran Turismo creator Kazunori Yamauchi and Xiaomi’s Founder, Chairman, and CEO Lei Jun in Beijing. Yamauchi test-drove the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra and toured Xiaomi’s EV factory in Yizhuang. He later praised the company’s engineering achievements and its broader ecosystem of interconnected devices, saying, “We are delighted to begin this partnership with Xiaomi… I am deeply moved by Xiaomi’s courage, curiosity, passion, and relentless dedication to realising such milestones.”

Lei Jun echoed these sentiments, calling Gran Turismo “a platform known worldwide for its uncompromising quality” and stating, “We deeply resonate with Mr. Yamauchi’s visionary philosophy of building a better society through technology. This aligns perfectly with Xiaomi’s mission to let everyone in the world enjoy a better life through accessible and innovative technology.”

Launched in 2024, the Xiaomi SU7 series was designed to complete the company’s “Human x Car x Home” ecosystem. The SU7 Ultra leads the range, powered by Xiaomi’s in-house HyperEngine V8s tri-motor system. It produces 1,548 PS, reaches speeds above 350 km/h, and can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 1.98 seconds.

The vehicle incorporates over 20 carbon fibre components across 5.5 square metres, ensuring a balance between lightweight construction and luxury finish. Xiaomi’s R&D team has prioritised real-world performance, conducting extensive testing at global racing circuits, including the Nürburgring Nordschleife. This testing focuses on advanced systems like torque vectoring and adaptive damping, aimed at translating racing performance into road safety and control.

Gran Turismo creator Yamauchi noted that Xiaomi SU7 Ultra’s track performance at the Nürburgring has made it stand out within the smart EV segment, highlighting the company’s engineering strength.

Gran Turismo integration and future plans

Gran Turismo 7 will feature a detailed digital recreation of the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra, developed in collaboration with Xiaomi EV. The in-game model will reflect the vehicle’s real-world handling and design, allowing players to experience its performance virtually.

Looking ahead, both companies have confirmed plans to co-develop a new concept car — the Xiaomi VISION GRAN TURISMO — specifically for the game. This signals an ongoing collaboration between the consumer tech company and one of the gaming industry’s most respected simulation franchises.

At the announcement, Zhoucan Ren, Chief Test Driver and Head of Vehicle Dynamics Development at Xiaomi EV, said: “Our team will maintain a continuous presence at the Nürburgring to relentlessly refine our products and push the boundaries of what’s possible in high-performance luxury vehicles.”
