Xiaomi teases Mix Flip 2 ahead of Samsung’s foldable launch

Xiaomi teases Mix Flip 2 with powerful specs and a June 2025 release, possibly beating Samsung’s next foldable to the market.

Xiaomi may be about to beat Samsung in the foldable phone race this year. Xiaomi China’s official website briefly displayed a teaser image for the new Xiaomi Mix Flip 2, hinting at an imminent launch.

You may have missed it if you blinked—the teaser was taken down shortly after it went live. But tech fans have already taken notice, as the post appeared to confirm that Xiaomi’s new flip phone will be revealed before Samsung has a chance to debut its latest foldable.

Xiaomi’s early teaser hints at June release

The teaser, first spotted by tech sites GSMArena and XiaomiUI, showed a banner with the words “See you this month” written in Mandarin. Alongside the message was an image that included the name Xiaomi Mix Flip 2 and a box labelled Xiaomi HyperOS, mostly hidden under a red satin-like cloth — a typical teaser tactic.

Although the link to the teaser is no longer active and has vanished from the homepage, the message is clear: Xiaomi is gearing up for a launch in June 2025. With July approaching, you’ll likely see the phone very soon.

If this is the case, Xiaomi will have managed to get its foldable out before Samsung’s much-anticipated Galaxy Z Flip7 and Fold7, which are expected to arrive “this summer”, according to Samsung’s own earlier announcements.

What to expect from the Mix Flip 2

Based on leaks from XiaomiUI, the Xiaomi Mix Flip 2 could come packed with powerful specs. It’s expected to run on the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, Qualcomm’s latest and fastest processor. That should give you plenty of speed for gaming, multitasking, and everyday use.

The main display is rumoured to be a 6.85-inch LTPO folding screen, offering smooth visuals with adaptive refresh rates. This technology not only improves the screen’s look and feel but also helps save battery.

Speaking of battery, the Mix Flip 2 may carry a large 5,100mAh battery, which is quite generous for a flip phone and should give you solid usage time without frequent charging.

Additionally, the device is believed to have an IPX8 water resistance rating, meaning you won’t have to worry as much about accidental splashes or brief drops in water—a feature that is becoming increasingly important for many users.

Will Xiaomi take the lead in foldables?

For years, Samsung has dominated the foldable phone market, but Xiaomi’s move suggests a strong effort to challenge that lead. If the Mix Flip 2 launches before the Z Flip7 and Fold7, you’ll see how Xiaomi’s latest design and hardware improvements stack up.

While exact pricing and full specifications haven’t yet been confirmed, this surprise teaser campaign has sparked attention. With Xiaomi playing its cards early, Samsung will likely feel pressured to respond quickly.
