Apple unveils new M4 iMacs with upgraded memory, USB-C accessories, and bold colours

Apple launched an updated M4 iMac with more memory, USB-C accessories, and 7 bold colours, which are available for pre-order from October 30.

Apple has launched an updated iMac with a series of exciting new features, beginning with its powerful M4 chip, giving fans a boost in performance and the choice of colourful designs. Let’s dive into the details of what Apple’s latest update has to offer.

Powered by M4 chip for enhanced speed

The updated iMac is equipped with Apple’s new M4 chip, making this iMac faster and more powerful than previous versions. The base model includes an 8-core CPU and GPU, while a higher-tier variant offers a 10-core CPU and GPU, allowing you to choose a model that best suits your needs.

The entry-level model features two USB-C Thunderbolt 4 ports, while the 10-core model adds two more USB-C Thunderbolt ports and a Gigabit Ethernet port for even faster data transfers. For the first time, Apple has upgraded the base model iMac to 16GB of memory, a significant improvement over the previous 8GB. You can upgrade to 24GB or 32GB if you need even more memory.

Storage options remain flexible, starting at 256GB or 512GB and upgrading up to 2TB. This range gives you ample space for apps, media, and projects, making the iMac an adaptable choice for personal or professional use.

4.5K Retina display and upgraded accessories

The iMac’s 24-inch 4.5K Retina display remains unchanged in size. Still, Apple now offers a nano-texture glass option to reduce screen glare—a feature previously only available on higher-end models. This nano-texture finish, however, comes at an extra cost of S$300 and is limited to the 10-core models.

The new iMac also features a 12MP ultra-wide webcam, allowing users to enjoy the enhanced “Desk View” feature. This feature uses the ultra-wide camera to capture the user simultaneously and a top-down view of their workspace, making it ideal for video calls, presentations, and more interactive experiences.

In a long-awaited update, Apple has finally replaced the Lightning ports on the Magic Keyboard, Magic Mouse, and Magic Trackpad with USB-C ports, aligning them with the latest standard across Apple’s product lineup. This change will simplify charging and cable management, making keeping your accessories powered up and ready to go easier.

Bold colour choices and pricing details

The M4 iMac wouldn’t be complete without Apple’s signature array of vibrant colours. The new model is available in seven striking shades: green, yellow, orange, pink, purple, blue, and silver. Each colour is vivid and eye-catching, designed to add a pop of personality to your workspace.

The new M4 iMac will be available for pre-order starting October 30 and for official sales beginning November 8. Prices start at S$1,799 (US$$1,299), and you can find it at Apple’s official online store and authorised platforms like Lazada and Shopee.

With these new updates, Apple has given the iMac a fresh upgrade that balances performance, design, and functionality, catering to casual users and creative professionals alike.
