ASUS IoT secures IEC 62443-4-1 cybersecurity certification for industrial systems

ASUS IoT earns IEC 62443-4-1 certification, strengthening cybersecurity in industrial systems through secure development lifecycle practices.

ASUS IoT has been awarded the IEC 62443-4-1 certification, affirming its secure development practices for industrial automation and control system (IACS) components. This globally recognised certification demonstrates ASUS IoT’s ability to embed robust cybersecurity measures across its product development lifecycle, offering enhanced protection for operational technology (OT) environments.

The IEC 62443-4-1 standard, developed jointly by the International Society of Automation (ISA) and the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC), outlines essential practices for secure system development. These cover requirement definition, architectural design, coding, testing, defect resolution, and long-term maintenance. With this certification, ASUS IoT assures its customers that security is not an afterthought, but a core principle embedded throughout the product lifecycle.

“IEC 62443-4-1 is a cornerstone for OT cybersecurity,” said Kiosun Hsu, Director of ASUS IoT. “This certification reinforces our capability to deliver secure and reliable AIoT systems, and provides our customers with a stronger foundation to manage security risks across industrial deployments.”

Industry-wide recognition of cybersecurity leadership

The certification was granted by Bureau Veritas, a globally respected independent testing and certification organisation. This third-party validation reinforces ASUS IoT’s commitment to security and reliability, a vital consideration as digital transformation accelerates across manufacturing, logistics, and infrastructure sectors.

“Cybersecurity has become integral to operational resilience,” said Yen-Liang Lin, Senior Executive Vice President at Deloitte. “By aligning with IEC 62443 standards, companies can adopt consistent practices that safeguard production lines, minimise downtime risks, and enhance global competitiveness.”

Yu-Ching Chiu, Director of Business Development at Bureau Veritas, added, “This achievement highlights ASUS IoT’s technical rigour and long-term commitment to secure development. It also sets a valuable precedent for other industrial manufacturers undergoing digital transformation.”

Addressing evolving threats to operational technology

The need for stringent cybersecurity standards has grown as OT environments increasingly connect with IT systems. While cyber attackers traditionally exploited IT networks, recent trends show a sharp rise in attacks targeting OT endpoints directly. This shift has increased the importance of comprehensive security strategies tailored specifically for industrial settings.

ASUS IoT’s certification demonstrates its proactive approach in mitigating these threats. By adopting IEC 62443-4-1, the company provides customers with industrial-grade solutions designed to withstand complex security challenges. These include support for long-term operations in harsh environments and mission-critical applications where system uptime is essential.

ASUS IoT has stated its intention to continue investing in product reliability, secure platform architecture, and lifecycle support. The company aims to offer a portfolio of integrated solutions that support resilient operations and reduce risks in industrial deployments worldwide.
