ASUS ROG launches Matrix GeForce RTX 5090 30th anniversary edition

ASUS ROG celebrates 30 years of graphics cards with the Matrix GeForce RTX 5090, offering 800W power, advanced cooling, and limited availability.

ASUS Republic of Gamers (ROG) has introduced the ROG Matrix GeForce RTX 5090 30th Anniversary Limited Edition at Gamescom 2025, celebrating three decades of graphics card innovation. The new model combines design elements from past ASUS releases with advanced performance features and a distinctive look.

A tribute to 30 years of design

The ROG Matrix GeForce RTX 5090 draws inspiration from earlier models such as the ASUS EN9800GT Matrix, while standing apart with its updated design. It features a copper-aluminium hybrid heatsink, metallic accents, and a bold rectangular frame paired with a circular section housing two stacked fans. A translucent panel adds an illuminated display that recalls the infinity mirror effect of the ROG Matrix GeForce RTX 2080 Ti.

The card is designed to be visually striking whether mounted horizontally or vertically. ASUS is also hosting a Cheers to 30 Years virtual amusement park event, where participants can enter a giveaway to win one of the limited edition cards.

Enhanced power and cooling capabilities

This anniversary edition offers users up to 800 watts of power when paired with an ASUS BTF motherboard. While most RTX 5090 cards deliver up to 600W through a 12V-2×6 cable or GC-HPWR slot, this model allows both connections to be used at once, unlocking greater overclocking potential.

To support this, ASUS has equipped the card with a three-ounce copper layer in the PCB, a feature previously seen on the ROG Mars II Dual GTX 580. This improves heat dissipation and voltage stability under heavy loads. The quad-fan design, which includes an additional fan integrated into the backplate, boosts airflow by up to 20 percent, further improving thermal efficiency.

The card also carries forward innovations from earlier ROG releases, such as 0dB cooling technology first introduced in the ROG Matrix GTX 780 Ti. This ensures fans switch off when demand is low, reducing noise during everyday tasks. Memory Defroster technology also makes a return, allowing overclockers to avoid cold bugs during extreme performance tests.

Advanced materials and overclocking features

The ROG Matrix GeForce RTX 5090 continues ASUS’s use of liquid metal thermal compound, a feature first introduced with the ROG Matrix RTX 4090. This material significantly lowers operating temperatures compared with conventional thermal pastes. Alongside this, the GPU is fitted with a patented full-copper vapor chamber paired with hybrid fins, offering improved cooling for the GPU die and voltage regulator modules.

ASUS has also enhanced its software support. The latest GPU Tweak III tool allows users to monitor performance, customise on-screen displays, and receive alerts about card sag or power supply issues. Its Thermal Map feature provides real-time readings from sensors across key components, giving enthusiasts detailed control over their hardware.

Availability in Singapore

The ASUS ROG Matrix GeForce RTX 5090 30th Anniversary Limited Edition will be available in Singapore from the end of October 2025.
