Charge+ and XPENG launch supercharging partnership in Southeast Asia

[output_post_excerpt]

Charge+, one of Southeast Asia’s largest electric vehicle (EV) charging providers, has announced a strategic partnership with China-based EV manufacturer XPENG to build a regional network of high-powered supercharging hubs. The collaboration aims to support long distance driving across the region, starting with Singapore, Malaysia, and Thailand, before expanding further.

Expanding supercharging infrastructure

The initiative will deliver at least 20 Direct Current (DC) supercharging sites across Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, and Indonesia, with charging capacities of up to 480kW DC. Using XPENG’s 5C Supercharging technology, which supports peak charging speeds of 451kW, EVs can be charged from 10 to 80 per cent in about 12 minutes.

Four sites have already opened under the first phase, including Royal Square Novena and Downtown East in Singapore, KL Eco City in Kuala Lumpur, and One Bangkok in Thailand. At KL Eco City, Charge+ has installed six ultra-fast charging points offering up to 350kW DC charging, making it the fastest station in Kuala Lumpur.

In the second phase, the partners plan to add more sites in existing markets and extend coverage to other countries such as Indonesia. High-traffic locations, including shopping centres, commercial districts, and highway rest stops, are targeted to provide convenience for drivers.

Driving cross-border connectivity

The project builds on Charge+’s ongoing development of a 5,000km EV charging highway connecting Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Cambodia, and Vietnam, the longest such network in the region. The company said the collaboration with XPENG will strengthen this backbone by focusing on ultra-fast charging and seamless cross-border travel.

Speaking at the launch, held at Charge+’s Beyond X office, Goh Chee Kiong, CEO of Charge+, said, “As the largest EV charging operator in Southeast Asia, Charge+ continues its mission to catalyse electric mobility in the region with its visionary 5,000km EV charging highway that connects Singapore to Hanoi in Vietnam. This partnership with XPENG, a forerunner in EV technology, reflects our shared commitment to enable a seamless experience for long distance, cross border driving.”

Gao Xiang, General Manager of XPENG Charging, added, “We are excited to collaborate with Charge+, a leader in EV charging solutions in Southeast Asia. Supercharging has been a core focus of XPENG with all EV models using technologies such as 800V platforms and 5C batteries to achieve ultra-fast charging. As XPENG continues to bring its innovative EVs to this region, we are confident we will be able to unlock new opportunities together with Charge+.”

Benefits for XPENG drivers

As part of the deal, XPENG owners will receive exclusive discounts on Charge+ public chargers across Southeast Asia for three years, along with additional benefits at co-branded supercharging hubs. Integration between Charge+’s network and the XPENG mobile app is also planned, giving users the ability to locate, start, and stop charging directly from their vehicles by the end of 2025.

Lee Hoe Lone, Managing Director of Premium Automobile Group, XPENG’s distributor in Singapore, noted the growing popularity of the brand’s models, including the G6 SUV, and said the partnership would give owners better access to fast-charging services nationwide.

The collaboration reflects growing demand for faster and more reliable charging infrastructure as EV adoption rises across the region. By combining Charge+’s regional presence with XPENG’s fast-charging technologies, the companies aim to accelerate EV mobility and make long distance driving more practical in Southeast Asia.
