Garmin launches quatix 8 smartwatch for mariners in Singapore

Garmin introduces quatix 8 in Singapore, a rugged smartwatch for mariners with marine tools, AMOLED display, and long battery life.

Garmin has introduced the quatix 8, a purpose-built smartwatch for mariners that combines advanced marine features with a rugged, stylish design. Available from 10 July in Singapore, the new device comes in two sizes—47mm and 51mm—and includes an AMOLED display, built-in speaker and microphone, and new controls designed for life at sea.

The quatix 8 is part of Garmin’s long-standing commitment to marine innovation, offering both boating-specific tools and everyday features for health and fitness. It is priced at S$1,679 for the 47mm model and S$1,839 for the 51mm version, and will be sold through Garmin Brand Stores, online platforms including Lazada and Shopee, and selected authorised retailers.

Designed for the elements

The quatix 8 is built with durability and performance in mind. Both models feature a 1.4-inch AMOLED screen protected by a scratch-resistant sapphire lens and a titanium bezel. The smartwatch has also been tested against U.S. military standards for thermal and shock resistance and includes a new ambient light sensor that improves visibility in bright sunlight.

A built-in LED flashlight adds versatility, offering several light modes and a red safety light to preserve night vision. For those going underwater, the watch is rated for depths of up to 40 metres and includes newly designed leakproof metal buttons and a sensor guard. These protect key sensors during scuba and apnea diving activities, making it suitable for marine exploration as well as daily use.

Smart features for mariners

A key addition in the quatix 8 is the integrated speaker and microphone, enabling mariners to use voice commands to control Garmin chartplotters via Bluetooth. Users can add waypoints, manage helm functions, and stay informed with real-time updates on water depth, speed, wind and heading—all from the wrist.

The smartwatch also acts as a remote for compatible Garmin devices such as trolling motors and Fusion audio systems. When paired with a smartphone, it supports hands-free calling and allows users to respond to messages through voice assistants. These features are aimed at enhancing safety and convenience while navigating or fishing.

In addition to its marine capabilities, the quatix 8 includes preloaded apps for boating and sailing, offering tide and anchor alerts, tack assist, race start guidance, and a regatta timer. These tools make it easier to monitor key events and maintain situational awareness on the water.

All-day performance and battery life

The quatix 8 is designed to last. The 47mm version provides up to 16 days of battery life, while the larger 51mm model can run for up to 29 days on a single charge. Garmin has engineered the device for users who move between sea and shore, integrating wellness tools, activity tracking, and fitness apps to support a healthy lifestyle.

“From the open water to the office and everywhere in between, quatix 8 is equipped with premium features that support those who love the water through every part of their day. Reliable marine tools give mariners the control and awareness they need while boating, sailing or fishing. Then once it’s time to dock, the watch’s robust collection of wellness features and fitness activities can help them stay on top of their health and pursue their passions,” said Mr Scoppen Lin, Assistant General Manager, Garmin Asia.

Garmin continues to lead in marine electronics innovation. The company was named Manufacturer of the Year for the tenth consecutive time by the National Marine Electronics Association (NMEA), recognising its continued contributions to the industry.
