Garmin unveils new Forerunner smartwatches and heart rate monitors for serious athletes

Garmin launches Forerunner 570, 970 smartwatches and HRM 200, 600 monitors with new training, recovery and heart rate tracking features.

Garmin has introduced the Forerunner 570 and Forerunner 970 GPS smartwatches, along with two new heart rate monitors, the HRM 200 and HRM 600, designed to support competitive runners and triathletes in optimising their training. The new wearables, launched on 4 June in Singapore, combine Garmin’s brightest AMOLED displays with advanced health tracking, personalised coaching, and new performance insights.

The smartwatches and heart rate monitors are now available through Garmin’s brand stores, official online platforms, and leading electronics retailers. Prices start from S$109 for the HRM 200 and S$759 for the Forerunner 570.

Enhanced smart features and performance insights

The new Forerunner 570 and 970 models build on Garmin’s suite of training and health tracking tools, offering advanced metrics and smart features to help athletes perform at their best. The Forerunner 570 provides up to 11 days of battery life in smartwatch mode, while the Forerunner 970 offers up to 15 days. Both watches include a built-in microphone and speaker for taking calls and using voice commands when paired with a smartphone.

Key additions include Garmin Triathlon Coach training plans, custom multisport workouts, and an evening report that gives a sleep reminder along with the next day’s workout, weather, and calendar. The watches also monitor breathing variations, skin temperature, and heart rate variability to support recovery and health tracking.

Exclusive to the Forerunner 970 are premium materials such as a sapphire lens and titanium bezel, a built-in LED flashlight for better visibility in low-light conditions, and new performance tools like running tolerance and step speed loss. The model also features ECG functionality, which uses onboard sensors to detect signs of atrial fibrillation.

Training tools tailored to every runner

Both models provide daily personalised workouts that adapt based on training load, recovery, and health status. The devices also offer race predictors, PacePro guidance, and SatIQ technology for improved GPS accuracy and battery efficiency.

The Forerunner 570 includes running metrics like VO2 max, acute load, wrist-based running power, and training effect. With two size options—42mm and 47mm—the watch comes in colour options such as raspberry with a translucent bone/mango band and indigo with imperial purple.

The Forerunner 970 adds mapping capabilities with full-colour built-in maps, turn-by-turn navigation, and dynamic round-trip routing. It is available in a 47mm size and comes in colourways including carbon grey DLC titanium and soft gold titanium.

Scoppen Lin, Assistant General Manager at Garmin Asia, said, “Created for every athlete who is out there chasing goals and passionate about their data, the Forerunner 570 and Forerunner 970 include innovative training tools, recovery metrics and connected features to help them perform at their best. Whether you’re an elite athlete striving for your fastest time yet or a runner upping mileage to prepare for that next big race, these premium smartwatches are here for every step of your running journey.”

Garmin has also updated its heart rate monitoring range with the HRM 200 and HRM 600. Both models provide accurate, real-time heart rate and HRV data and transmit this information to compatible Garmin devices and apps.

The HRM 200 is designed for general fitness use, offering up to one year of battery life with a replaceable battery. It features a status LED light, machine-washable strap, and two size options (XS-S and M-XL) for a better fit.

The HRM 600 is geared towards performance athletes. It introduces advanced running dynamics such as step speed loss and stride efficiency, while also supporting standalone activity recording across sports like basketball or swimming. It offers a rechargeable battery with up to two months of use per charge, an LED indicator, and a functional design for easy operation.

Both models send pace and distance data from treadmill or indoor track runs, and heart rate data from swimming sessions, to compatible Garmin smartwatches. They also provide activity summaries including calories, steps, and intensity minutes, even when a watch is not worn.

The Forerunner 570 retails at S$759, the Forerunner 970 at S$1,029, the HRM 200 at S$109, and the HRM 600 at S$239. All products are available from Garmin Brand Stores, the Garmin Online Store, Lazada, Shopee, Takashimaya, and major consumer electronics outlets.
