Google pauses Pixel 10 Daily Hub to improve performance

Google has paused the Pixel 10’s Daily Hub feature to improve performance, promising a refined version will return in the future.

Google has temporarily withdrawn the Daily Hub feature from its Pixel 10 smartphones, less than two weeks after the devices went on sale. Daily Hub, introduced alongside the Pixel 10 launch last month, provides a quick overview of a user’s day by displaying weather updates, calendar events, and personalised content recommendations for reading, watching, or listening.

Although promoted as a highlight of the new phones, Daily Hub was only ever made available as a “public preview” rather than a finished release. A Google spokesperson confirmed to 9to5Google that the company is “actively working to enhance its performance and refine the personalised experience.” The statement also assured users that “an improved Daily Hub” would return once ready.

Early impressions highlight mixed reactions

Daily Hub did not appear on every Pixel 10 device during its brief trial period, even for reviewers. While some test units never received the feature, others, including one tested by a colleague named Allison, had access to it. Her experience suggested that the feature may not have been ready for wider use.

She noted that while Daily Hub successfully delivered weather updates and calendar reminders, its content suggestions were less accurate. Comparing it to Samsung’s Now Brief on the S25 series, she explained that it often felt more like a gimmick than a truly useful tool. One example she shared was particularly telling: after searching for her local recycling collection schedule, Daily Hub began recommending general information about the waste management industry.

“If voice translation is halfway between a helpful feature and a gimmick, then Daily Hub leans even further into gimmick territory,” Allison said. “It’s maybe a more long-winded version of Google’s At a Glance widget, which gives you a heads up on the weather and upcoming calendar events.”

Google’s approach to AI-driven features

The decision to pause Daily Hub comes at a time when Google is pushing artificial intelligence as a central part of its hardware strategy. The Pixel 10 was unveiled with a strong emphasis on AI-driven software, promising users more personalised and predictive tools. However, the quick withdrawal of Daily Hub shows the challenges of balancing innovation with reliable performance.

For now, users will need to rely on existing tools such as Google’s At a Glance widget for day-to-day information, while waiting for a more polished version of Daily Hub to make its return. Google has not provided a timeline for when the updated feature will be reintroduced.
