Google Pixel 10 pricing and release details leaked ahead of 20 August launch

Leaked pricing and preorder details for Google’s Pixel 10 series suggest stable costs and a release date of 20 August across multiple models.

The upcoming launch of Google’s Pixel 10 series is drawing closer, and a series of new leaks have shed light on both the pricing and expected availability of the highly anticipated smartphones. The information, coming just weeks before Google’s official “Made by Google” event on 20 August, indicates that fans of the Pixel range are in for some good news, particularly in terms of pricing stability and release timing.

Pixel 10 pricing expected to remain unchanged

According to a report from Android Headlines, the base prices for the Google Pixel 10 series will mirror those of the Pixel 9 range, with only a slight variation for one premium model. Leaked pricing suggests that the Pixel 10 will start at US$799, while the Pixel 10 Pro will cost US$999. The larger Pixel 10 Pro XL is set to be priced at US$1,199, and the high-end Pixel 10 Pro Fold will retail for US$1,799.

Although the Pro XL model appears to be priced higher than its predecessor, the jump is attributed to an upgrade in base storage. This year’s Pro XL is reportedly shipping with 256GB of storage by default, compared to the previously offered 128 GB. When adjusting for that, the pricing is effectively consistent with last year’s Pixel 9 Pro XL.

In international markets, equivalent prices are expected to follow a familiar pattern: approximately AU$1,349 for the Pixel 10, AU$1,699 for the Pixel 10 Pro, and AU$2,699 for the Pixel 10 Pro Fold. These figures reinforce earlier rumours from April, which suggested that Google would likely hold prices steady across the board.

Preorders are likely to open on launch day

While Google has already confirmed that its annual Made by Google event will take place on 20 August, it has not formally announced when the new Pixel phones will go on sale. However, sources speaking to GSMArena have indicated that preorders for the new Pixel 10 handsets are expected to begin on the same day as the event.

Some variation in availability across different models is still possible, similar to the staggered rollout seen with the Pixel 9 range. Nonetheless, the immediate preorder option will offer eager customers a chance to secure their devices as soon as they’re unveiled.

Adding to the excitement, recent rumours also suggest that the Pixel 10 series may be the first Android phones to introduce a form of MagSafe-style magnetic wireless charging. If accurate, this would mark a significant evolution in Android hardware capabilities, bringing new convenience to wireless charging similar to Apple’s approach.

More than just smartphones at Google’s event

While the Pixel 10 phones are expected to headline the 20 August event, Google appears to be preparing additional product announcements as well. Industry insiders anticipate the unveiling of the Google Pixel Watch 4 and the Pixel Buds 2a alongside the new smartphones.

Although Google has remained tight-lipped on specific details, the company has already teased a glimpse of one of the upcoming phones. Furthermore, multiple leaks have offered unofficial renders of the devices, giving fans an early look at possible design changes across the Pixel 10 range.

With just a few weeks to go, anticipation is building for what promises to be a major launch event. Tech enthusiasts and loyal Pixel users alike will be watching closely as Google reveals its latest hardware innovations.
