Google Pixel 10 series colours hint at big changes ahead

Google Pixel 10 series leaks show bold new colours, dropping Obsidian and Porcelain for shades like Ultra Blue, Iris, and Smoky Green.

If you’ve been waiting to hear more about the Google Pixel 10 series, a fresh update might surprise you—especially if you care about style. Not long after the event and launch dates for the new Pixel phones were leaked, we’re now seeing details about the colours you can expect. And this time, Google is taking a new direction.

The tech giant is stepping away from the long-standing favourites, Obsidian and Porcelain, and replacing them with bolder, more eye-catching colours. Whether you love classic designs or want something new, these upcoming changes might make you rethink which model you want to get.

Say goodbye to Obsidian and Porcelain

As reported by Android Headlines, the new Pixel 10 lineup will feature colours quite different from what you’ve seen in the past. While there aren’t any official images yet, we do have the names of the colour options across the different models:

  • Pixel 10: Ultra Blue, Limoncello, Iris, Midnight
  • Pixel 10 Pro: Sterling Gray, Light Porcelain, Midnight, Smoky Green
  • Pixel 10 Pro XL: Same as Pixel 10 Pro
  • Pixel 10 Pro Fold: Sterling Gray, Smoky Green

One of the biggest surprises is the absence of Obsidian and Porcelain. These colours have been part of the Pixel look for years, so their removal shows Google is moving in a different design direction. Some replacements—like Midnight and Light Porcelain—sound more colourful, possibly richer versions of the old shades.

Sterling Gray could be the new neutral option, but with a cooler tone, while Light Porcelain might offer a lighter, creamier feel. Midnight takes the place of Obsidian, but it could be deeper or have a bluer tint.

Familiar names with a new role

Some of these colours may seem familiar. They were first introduced as case colours or in Google’s mid-range A-series phones. For instance, Limoncello was previously seen as a case option for the Pixel 7, and now it’s become a phone colour.

A soft purple Iris was a hit in the Pixel 9a lineup. It’s now a standard option in the Pixel 10, which shows Google is willing to bring fan-favourite A-series colours into the main Pixel range.

Even Smoky Green, which is being added to the Pro and Fold models, brings a fresh look. It’s expected to be a deeper green shade—subtle but stylish. This new approach suggests that Google wants to offer more personality to its devices without being too flashy.

Ultra Blue stands out from the rest

Among the new colours, Ultra Blue might be the one that catches your eye the most. While Google is already using Iris—a light purple with blue tones—Ultra Blue is said to be a more vibrant, royal blue. According to Android Headlines, this bold colour is exclusive to the base Pixel 10 model.

This means that if you want the brightest, most playful colour, you’ll need to choose the standard version of the Pixel 10. This is a smart way to give the base model its own identity, especially since higher-end models are often more muted.

Google is stepping out of its comfort zone with the Pixel 10 series. The colour choices show a shift toward variety and individuality, giving users more ways to express their style through their phones. Whether you prefer cool tones like Sterling Gray or something bright like Limoncello, the new Pixel line will have something for you.

As we get closer to the official launch, more details will likely surface. For now, though, it’s safe to say the days of Obsidian and Porcelain are over—and something more colourful is taking their place.
