Jaguar unveils bold Type 00 concept electric car

Jaguar reveals its Type 00 concept electric car at Miami Art Week, showcasing bold design and previewing its next-gen EVs with a 430-mile range.

Jaguar embraces a bold new identity by unveiling its Type 00 concept electric car, marking a dramatic step into its rebranded future. The new ethos, summarised as “copy nothing,” aims to redefine Jaguar’s design language and take inspiration from its history of iconic vehicles. The Type 00 is the first concept car under this vision, showcasing an innovative and daring design.

A modern reinterpretation of Jaguar’s legacy

Revealed during Miami Art Week, the Type 00 is a striking two-door coupe that blends futuristic aesthetics with classic Jaguar allure. The car features a long hood, a low-slung roofline, and a fastback rear profile without a traditional rear window. These elements reflect a fresh approach yet still nod to the brand’s history. Jaguar’s Chief Creative Officer, Gerry McGovern, explained the concept: “When Jaguar was at its best, it threw away the design rulebook and created the E-Type and XJS—objects of desire. This car is a continuation of that legacy.”

With its bold design, the Type 00 is intended to set the stage for Jaguar’s upcoming production vehicles. Distinctive features include massive 23-inch wheels, butterfly doors, and a unique interior adorned with three brass bars running the length of the cabin. The cabin also has a stone plinth separating the seats and an oval steering wheel, offering a futuristic yet minimalistic aesthetic.

One particularly eye-catching feature is a thin digital display running inside the windshield. This display remains visible even when the primary screens are folded out of sight, ensuring a clean and futuristic dashboard.

Previewing Jaguar’s electric future

While the Type 00 is currently a concept, it hints at what you can expect from Jaguar’s next-generation vehicles. The brand’s first electric four-door grand tourer will debut late next year, taking inspiration from this concept car. The upcoming production model promises an impressive range of up to 430 miles and fast-charging capabilities, allowing you to add 200 miles in just 15 minutes.

The Type 00 concept was presented in striking colours, including Miami Pink and London Blue, ideally suited to its debut at Miami Art Week. While details about its performance remain scarce, Jaguar has signalled that it is serious about redefining electric luxury.
