Logitech launches MX Master 4 with haptic feedback and new Actions Ring shortcut

Logitech introduces the MX Master 4 mouse, featuring haptic feedback and an Actions Ring shortcut system for enhanced productivity and efficiency.

Logitech has introduced its latest productivity mouse, the MX Master 4, the successor to the well-regarded MX Master 3S. The new model introduces several key improvements designed to enhance efficiency, including haptic feedback and a shortcut tool known as the Actions Ring.

New features focus on speed and efficiency

One of the most notable additions to the MX Master 4 is its built-in haptic motor. The motor provides subtle vibrations when certain actions or shortcuts are performed, giving users clear feedback that their inputs have been registered. Logitech believes this will improve workflow by making navigation more intuitive.

The other major feature is the Actions Ring, a new shortcut system that displays a digital overlay on the screen. It gives users access to eight shortcuts, each of which can be customised using the Logi Options+ app. For advanced users, each shortcut can include up to nine nested options, allowing a total of 81 shortcuts. According to Logitech, this system could save users up to 33 per cent of their time and reduce repetitive mouse movements by as much as 63 per cent.

One example of how the Actions Ring can be utilised is to map a shortcut to Easy Switch, allowing for quick switching between devices without needing to press the dedicated button located on the underside of the mouse.

Design changes and build quality

The MX Master 4 features several design refinements for enhanced comfort and usability. The mouse now features a slightly altered shape and repositioned buttons. The Gesture button has been moved above the Actions Ring button, and the thumb scroll wheel has been enlarged for easier access.

To address durability, the device features a new silicone surface that resists stains and provides a textured grip, also enhancing wear resistance. Logitech has made these adjustments in response to long-time users of the MX Master series, who have often praised the build quality but wanted a more robust surface finish.

Connectivity, performance and battery life

The mouse continues to support Bluetooth connections as well as the Logi Bolt USB receiver. Its sensor is unchanged, retaining the 8K DPI capability that works reliably on a wide range of surfaces, including glass and wood.

Battery life remains the same as the MX Master 3S, with Logitech claiming up to 70 hours on a full charge. A one-minute charge is said to provide enough power for up to three hours of use, making it practical for users on the go.

Early impressions suggest that the textured finish is comfortable to grip and that the Actions Ring, combined with the repositioned Gesture button, expands customisation possibilities for productivity-focused users.

The Logitech MX Master 4 is priced at S$199 and is available for purchase through online platforms including Lazada and Shopee.
