Motorola launches new Razr Fold and updated flip phones, expanding its foldable range with more options across price points.
Motorola has unveiled a refreshed range of Razr foldable smartphones, introducing its first book-style device alongside updated flip models. The announcement comes ahead of anticipated launches from rivals later this year, positioning the company as an early mover in the 2026 foldable market.

The new Razr Fold marks a notable shift for Motorola, which has until now focused primarily on clamshell-style foldables. First revealed at CES and later showcased at MWC, the device marks the brand’s entry into the larger tablet-style segment, which a small number of competitors have dominated.
Motorola enters the book-style foldable market
The Razr Fold features several features designed to set it apart from competing devices. Among the most significant is support for a stylus, a feature previously associated with rival foldables but recently phased out elsewhere. Motorola’s stylus, known as the Moto Pen Ultra, is sold separately for US$100, allowing users to sketch or take notes directly on the device.
The handset also emphasises display performance. It features a 6.6-inch outer screen with peak brightness of up to 6,000 nits, alongside an 8.1-inch internal flexible display capable of reaching 6,200 nits. This makes it slightly larger and brighter than comparable models, offering a more expansive viewing experience.
Battery capacity and charging speeds are another focus. The Razr Fold is equipped with a 6,000mAh battery and supports up to 80W wired charging or 50W wireless charging. However, users will need compatible accessories to achieve these maximum speeds, as the company relies on its own charging technology.
Under the hood, the device runs on a Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 processor, paired with 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. Motorola claims its 50MP main camera is among the best in its category. Despite its capabilities, the handset measures 4.6mm thick when folded, making it slightly thicker than some competing models. It is priced at US$1,900, positioning it just below similarly configured rivals.
Updated flip models offer a range of options
Alongside the Razr Fold, Motorola has introduced three updated flip-style smartphones, catering to different price points and user needs. The top-tier Razr Ultra is priced at US$1,500 and features a 4-inch external display and a 7-inch internal flexible screen with peak brightness of 5,000 nits.
The company states that the Razr Ultra is the first flexible flip phone to incorporate Gorilla Glass Ceramic 3, aimed at improving durability. It also includes a 5,000mAh battery, which Motorola says is the largest in its class, as well as a Snapdragon 8 Elite processor and support for 68W wired charging.
The mid-range Razr+ starts at US$1,100 and offers a slightly smaller 6.9-inch internal display. It includes features such as wireless charging and a suite of AI-powered tools under the Moto AI platform, including Gemini, Microsoft Copilot, and Perplexity. Performance is handled by a Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 processor, supported by a 4,500mAh battery and 45W wired charging.
Motorola has positioned the Razr+ as a balanced option within the lineup, offering a mix of performance and features while maintaining a lower price point than the Ultra model.
Affordable entry point broadens appeal
At the lower end of the range, the base Razr starts at US$800, making it one of the more accessible foldable smartphones on the market. While its specifications are more modest, it retains the core appeal of a flexible display design.
The device features a 3.6-inch external screen, a 6.9-inch internal display, and a MediaTek Dimensity 7450X processor. It includes a 4,800mAh battery and supports 30W wired charging. Although it lacks some of the advanced features found in higher-end models, its pricing is expected to attract a wider audience.
Motorola’s expanded lineup reflects a broader strategy to cover multiple segments of the foldable market. By introducing both premium and more affordable options, the company appears to be aiming for greater accessibility while maintaining competitive specifications across its devices.
The new Razr family will be available for pre-order from 14 May through Motorola and selected retailers, with general availability beginning on 21 May.
