Nominations open for 4th edition of Singapore 100 Women in Tech Awards

Nominations for the 4th Singapore 100 Women in Tech Awards are open, celebrating women in tech. Submit nominations by 30 April 2025.

Nominations are now open for the fourth edition of the Singapore 100 Women in Tech (SG100WIT) Awards, an initiative by the Singapore Computer Society (SCS) in collaboration with the Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA). The annual awards recognise the contributions of women in Singapore’s tech industry, aiming to encourage more women to build careers in technology and inspire young talent in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).

With the theme “Empowering Yourself, Inspiring Others,” the SG100WIT Awards will honour 100 women across two categories: Professional and Girls in Tech. The Professional category acknowledges industry leaders who drive innovation, contribute to business and societal growth through technology, and promote gender diversity. The Girls in Tech category recognises female students aged 13 and above who excel in STEM and use technology to create a positive impact in their communities.

A milestone year for SG100WIT

The 2025 edition of the awards comes at a significant moment, coinciding with Singapore’s 60th birthday. Following a record 800 nominations in 2023, including a sharp rise in submissions for the Girls in Tech category, organisers expect even greater participation this year.

Tan Lee Chew, president of the Women in Tech Chapter at SCS and president of Smart City & Digital Solutions at ST Engineering, said the initiative is key to empowering women in the industry. She noted that showcasing the stories of accomplished women in tech will help inspire future leaders, break barriers, and shape the technology sector for the years ahead. She also highlighted the growing influence of women in the industry, pointing to the increasing number of nominations in recent years as evidence of progress.

Dorcas Tan, co-chairperson of SG Women in Tech and acting cluster director of the Human Capital Cluster at IMDA, stressed the importance of gender diversity in Singapore’s tech sector. She said that as Singapore strengthens its position as a global technology and innovation hub, the contributions of women will be essential in shaping the country’s digital future. She added that the SG100WIT Awards reinforce the nation’s commitment to building a diverse and forward-looking talent pipeline, ensuring that women continue to thrive and drive meaningful change in the industry.

Honouring industry leaders and young innovators

Since its launch, SG100WIT has recognised women across various sectors, including ICT, data science, and business entrepreneurship. Many past honourees have played a key role in driving technological advancements in Singapore.

A panel of judges, comprising experts from academia, business, and the technology sector, will evaluate the nominations. The committee will be led by Professor Alex Siow, SCS honorary fellow and professor (practice) in the School of Computing at the National University of Singapore. The 100 selected honourees will be recognised at a special event in August 2025 and will also be featured in a series of initiatives designed to inspire and support future generations of women in tech.

Nominations are open from 17 March to 30 April 2025. Individuals and organisations can submit their nominations online. For more details, visit https://www.scs.org.sg/sg100wit-criteria-and-nomination-2025.
