Nothing introduces Ear (open) earbuds, a fresh take on open-ear audio

Discover the new Nothing Ear (open) earbuds, featuring a unique design, impressive battery life, and innovative sound technology.

After successfully launching the Nothing Ear and Nothing Ear (a) earlier this year, Nothing is making waves again by introducing the Ear (open) earbuds. This new model ventures into the open-ear segment, showcasing an intriguing design that refers to the iconic Apple wired earbuds. While those older models were known for their comfort issues, it’s interesting to see Nothing embrace a similar aesthetic with a modern twist.

The Ear (open) earbuds come equipped with silicone ear hooks to enhance security during use, especially while exercising. These hooks employ a three-point balance system, ensuring the earbuds remain securely in place without sacrificing comfort. Weighing just 8.1 grammes per side, these earbuds are designed to be lightweight, making them a practical choice for active users.

The charging case maintains Nothing’s signature transparent look and is impressively slim at only 19mm thick. It offers an overall battery life of 30—22 hours from the case and an additional 8 hours from a fully charged pair of earbuds. This extensive battery life means you can enjoy your music and calls throughout the day without frequent recharging.

At the heart of the Ear (open) earbuds is a specially engineered 14.2mm dynamic driver. This stepped design improves sound consistency, delivering clearer audio quality. A unique, patent-pending diaphragm features a design that flattens in the middle rather than at the ends. This innovation minimises distortion and enhances low frequencies, providing a richer listening experience.

The diaphragm is coated in titanium to ensure sound accuracy, increasing its rigidity and enabling precise sound reproduction, particularly at higher frequencies. Additionally, the drivers are tilted at a 50-degree angle to optimise their position over the ear. This setup is complemented by the Sound Seal System, which uses reverse sound waves to cancel out unwanted noise. This technology enhances audio transmission and minimises sound leakage, allowing for a more immersive listening experience.

Launch details and pricing information

Overall, the Nothing Ear (open) earbuds present an intriguing option in the open-style earbud market. While they may not feature active noise cancellation like the new Apple AirPods 4, their unique design and secure fit may be compelling enough to attract a diverse audience.

The Nothing Ear (open) is priced at S$239 and will be available through an exclusive limited online release at Limited Edt’s official online store on September 28. Pre-orders begin on October 1 at Nothing’s Shopee and Lazada stores and at Challenger, Courts, Popular bookshops, and Metapod. General sales are set to commence on October 14, making these innovative earbuds accessible to a broader audience.
