Pokémon GO announces Wooper as star of November 2023 Community Day

Pokémon GO announces Wooper and its Paldean variant as the stars of its November 2023 Community Day.

Pokémon GO has revealed that Wooper and its regional variant from Paldean will be the featured Pokémon for the upcoming November 2023 Community Day event. During this special day, players will encounter Wooper more often than usual, and several enticing bonuses will be up for grabs for a limited time.

What to expect on Community Day

Community Day is a monthly event in Pokémon GO designed to bring new and existing players together. The aim is to hunt for a specific Pokémon, and the November 2023 edition is no exception. Wooper and its Paldean version will be in the limelight, offering players additional rewards for levelling up and powering up their Pokémon.

Event details and exclusive moves

The November 2023 Community Day will occur on Sunday, November 5, from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM local time. Throughout these hours, Wooper and its Paldean variant will pop up more frequently in the wild, increasing the odds of finding a shiny Wooper. If players evolve Wooper into Quagsire during the event or up to five hours afterwards, Pokémon will learn the special Aqua Tail Charged Attack. Similarly, evolving a Paldean Wooper into Clodsire during an eight-hour window will enable it to use the Megahorn Charged Attack. Like previous Community Day events, a new Special Research story can be accessed for US$1 or one gift ticket.

Bonuses and additional activities

A range of short-term bonuses will also be activated during the event. These include double Candy for caught Pokémon, reduced egg-hatching distances, and a doubled chance for players level 31 and above to earn Candy XL. Other perks feature an extra Special Trade, three-hour-lasting Lure Modules and Incense, a 50% reduction in Stardust cost for trading, and a chance to catch the Pokémon Smeargle. After the main event, a special four-star raid featuring Wooper and its Paldean version will occur from 5:00 PM to 10:00 PM local time. Participation in this raid requires Raid Passes or Premium Battle Passes.

Additional in-game tasks known as Field Research will offer more rewards like Stardust, Ultra Balls, and extra Wooper encounters. For those looking to stock up, special Community Day bundles containing Ultra Balls and other consumables will be available in the game’s shop for the duration of the event.

Fans have expressed disappointment with previous Community Days, so this upcoming event featuring the much-loved Wooper offers Niantic an excellent opportunity to make amends. It’s crucial for the game developer to ensure that all bonuses are functioning as expected when the event kicks off on November 5.

Pokémon GO is now available for download on both Android and iOS platforms.
