The Galaxy Book 6 series first became available in the United States in March, with the initial line-up largely built around Intel processors. The new Galaxy Book 6 Edge marks a notable addition to the family, offering a different hardware platform that delivers enhanced artificial intelligence capabilities and improved efficiency.
According to Samsung, the Snapdragon X2 Elite chipset can deliver up to 80 trillion operations per second (TOPS) of AI performance. The device is also classified as a Windows 11 Copilot+ PC, reflecting Microsoft’s growing focus on AI-powered features within its latest generation of computers.
Display and performance focus
The Galaxy Book 6 Edge features a 16-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X touchscreen display with a 3K resolution. Samsung said the screen features an anti-reflective coating that improves visibility in bright environments, making the laptop suitable for outdoor use.
The display supports an adaptive refresh rate of up to 120Hz, allowing smoother scrolling and improved responsiveness when viewing content or using applications. Corning Gorilla Glass also protects it with DX, which is intended to provide additional durability while maintaining display clarity.
Samsung has paired the display with software that automatically adjusts brightness and contrast based on surrounding lighting conditions. These enhancements are designed to deliver a more consistent viewing experience across different environments.
Powering the device is Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X2 Elite processor, a shift away from Intel chips found in other Galaxy Book 6 models. Samsung said the processor’s AI capabilities will support a range of advanced computing functions, reflecting a broader industry trend towards integrating AI features directly into personal computers.
Connectivity and Galaxy ecosystem integration
The Galaxy Book 6 Edge offers a range of connectivity options for both productivity and entertainment users. The laptop features one HDMI 2.1 port, a microSD card slot, one USB 3.2 port and two USB 4.0 ports. It also includes a combined headphone and microphone jack.
Wireless connectivity is supported through Bluetooth 5.4 and Wi-Fi 7, offering compatibility with the latest networking standards. These features are intended to provide faster data transfer speeds and more reliable connections across a range of devices.
Samsung has also emphasised integration with its wider Galaxy ecosystem. Users can wirelessly access content stored on compatible Galaxy smartphones, including photos and files, directly from the laptop. This functionality is designed to simplify file transfers and improve continuity between devices.
Audio is delivered through a quad-speaker system with Dolby Atmos support. The company said the speaker arrangement is intended to provide a more immersive listening experience for video playback, music and other multimedia content.
Battery life, design and pricing
Samsung claims the Galaxy Book 6 Edge can deliver up to 22 hours of video playback on a single charge. The company also stated that the laptop’s battery can be recharged to 40 per cent capacity in around 30 minutes when using the included 65W power adaptor.
The device weighs approximately 3.42 pounds and measures just under half an inch thick, placing it among the slimmest and most portable laptops in its class. Samsung appears to be targeting users who require a balance between performance and mobility.
Unlike some competing laptops that offer multiple hardware options, the Galaxy Book 6 Edge is available in a single configuration. The model comes standard with 16GB of LPDDR5X memory and 1TB of internal storage.
The premium specifications are reflected in the price. Samsung has set the retail price of the Galaxy Book 6 Edge at US$2,100, positioning it at the higher end of the consumer laptop market. The launch expands Samsung’s Galaxy Book 6 portfolio, providing customers with an alternative to the existing Intel-powered models while highlighting the company’s growing investment in AI-focused computing devices.
