The island city-state will be the headquarters of the US startup, Lime, for its Asia-Pacific expansion plan, with the central business district-located headquarters slated to open in the third quarter of 2019.

The startup, previously known as LimeBike, has selected Singapore for its strategic location, infrastructure, favorable macro-economical and regulatory environment, and for its excellent local market for this kind of ‘personal mobility devices’.

All Lime e-scooters come with a GPS tracker, and you can either pay after mileage or for the time of use. Similar to the rest of the e-scooter startups, you can rent a vehicle with Lime via an application and return it to a pick-up point after use.

With the announcement of the first location in Asia, the startup also plans to introduce a new line of Lime two-wheelers last October — Lime-S Gen3 electric scooter.

This new development will also set the groundwork for their APAC expansion as Singapore is geographically well-positioned to serve as a communications hub to support and connect their regional offices.

According to the press release, Lime aims to expand its local capabilities to include government relations, partnerships, brand and operations with the opening of the new regional HQ.
