Xiaomi begins stable Android 15 rollout for Xiaomi 14 beta users globally

Xiaomi rolls out a stable Android 15 update for 14 beta testers on HyperOS 1.1, improving interface and stability.

Xiaomi has begun rolling out a stable version of its Android 15 update to Xiaomi 14 users, explicitly targeting beta testers outside of China. This launch marks an important step for Xiaomi as it transitions its Android 15 reskin out of beta testing. Users enrolled in Xiaomi’s Mi Pilot program can now experience the latest software features and stability improvements on the Xiaomi 14.

Android 15 update now available via HyperOS 1.1

The new Android 15 update is available through Xiaomi’s HyperOS 1.1, a version of the company’s operating system that was first launched with the Xiaomi 15 series in China. However, this particular Android 15 version is limited to HyperOS 1.1. It does not include the enhanced features of HyperOS 2, which is currently exclusive to Xiaomi’s latest flagship series in the Chinese market.

Weighing just over 120 MB, this stable update introduces a refined interface, focusing on fixing minor bugs and improving the overall user experience. Despite being branded as “stable,” the update remains exclusive to beta testers enrolled in the Mi Pilot programme. Xiaomi plans to monitor the release’s performance through this testing group before deciding when and how to roll it out to a broader global audience.

Key changes in Xiaomi’s Android 15 update

Xiaomi’s Android 15 update significantly improves the Home and Lock Screens, targeting the layout and kerning issues some users reported in previous versions. This update also addresses stability concerns, providing smoother interactions and a more consistent display.

Another fix resolves an issue where some app screenshots appeared as black images, ensuring users capture accurate screenshots across different apps. Though these adjustments may seem small, they contribute to a better user experience and align with Xiaomi’s goals to optimise Android 15’s functionality for their devices.

Limited release to global beta testers

Xiaomi has limited the Android 15 update to self-enrolled Mi Pilot users worldwide, allowing the company to gather feedback and resolve issues before a larger release. This gradual approach will enable Xiaomi to fine-tune the update while keeping potential risks to a smaller group of users familiar with testing early software builds.

While the Android 15 update is stable, the firmware’s build name still notes its current beta status. However, Xiaomi’s term “stable” indicates confidence in its reliability and compatibility for regular use. Xiaomi can ensure the quality of updates across diverse regions and device configurations by involving a global pool of beta testers.

For Xiaomi 14 users keen on experiencing Android 15, this stable release offers a promising preview of Xiaomi’s latest software developments.
