XPENG unveils AI-powered innovations and supercharged EVs at Auto Shanghai 2025

XPENG launches AI brain, 10-minute charging EV, and IRON humanoid robot at Auto Shanghai 2025, setting new mobility benchmarks.

XPENG Motors unveiled a series of significant advancements in artificial intelligence, battery technology, and robotics at Auto Shanghai 2025, signalling a major shift in the future of smart mobility. The company introduced the XPENG World Foundation Model and debuted new high-speed charging battery technology, while also showcasing its full-stack humanoid robotics and delivering record-breaking sales for its new electric MPV.

He Xiaopeng, Chairman and CEO of XPENG, said, “Today marks a strategic evolution for XPENG – we’re not merely launching products but fundamentally redefining what an automotive company can be. Through our AI Tech Tree, we’re building an integrated ecosystem where breakthrough innovations like our 5C Supercharging AI battery, Turing AI chip, and IRON robotics converge to create intelligent mobility solutions that learn, adapt, and transform transportation experiences.”

Next-generation AI system and superfast charging

Central to XPENG’s showcase was the launch of the XPENG World Foundation Model, described as the next-generation “AI Brain” for mobility. With 35 times the parameters of traditional Vision-Language-Action (VLA) models, the system enables real-time adaptation to unfamiliar driving conditions. The technology underpins AI-defined vehicles, autonomous robots, and flying cars, reflecting XPENG’s commitment to integrating AI across all aspects of mobility.

Also making its debut was the XPENG P7+—a fully AI-defined electric vehicle—featuring the new 5C Supercharging AI Battery. The flagship model can achieve a range of 420km from just 10 minutes of charging. With energy consumption at only 12.7kWh per 100km, this marks a new benchmark in fast-charging and energy-efficient travel.

Record MPV sales and global expansion

Another highlight of the event was the official delivery launch of the 2025 XPENG X9 MPV, which features 496 upgrades including industry-first walk-through zero-gravity seats and standardised high-level autonomous driving features. The vehicle received more than 6,000 firm orders within a week of its global debut on 15 April in Hong Kong—setting a new record in the pure electric MPV category.

In the first quarter of 2025, XPENG delivered 94,008 vehicles globally, with 7,615 units shipped to overseas markets—an increase of 370% year-on-year. The brand has now delivered over 700,000 vehicles worldwide, strengthening its leadership in China’s smart EV sector while rapidly expanding internationally.

Humanoid robot technology draws global interest

XPENG’s expansion beyond automobiles was underscored by its presentation of the IRON humanoid robot. The robot, which stands 178cm tall, features 22 degrees of freedom in its hands and is capable of natural conversations, smooth motion, and precise object manipulation. Powered by XPENG’s smart cockpit AI, IRON represents a fully self-developed robotics platform and reflects the brand’s ambitions to venture further into the AI and robotics landscape.
