Apple is expected to hold its annual iPhone launch event during the second week of September, according to internal documents from German mobile carriers. The leaked information aligns with a previous report by Bloomberg, further pointing to a likely event date of 9 September.
German carrier documents suggest 9 September launch
The German website iphone-ticker.de has revealed internal carrier documents indicating that Apple is planning to host its iPhone launch event on Tuesday, 9 September. This date aligns with Apple’s typical launch cycle, which has historically seen new iPhones unveiled during the first half of September.
If the pattern of past years continues, pre-orders for the iPhone 17 are expected to open on Friday, 12 September, with retail availability following one week later on 19 September. These dates would give Apple enough time to begin fulfilling orders before the end of the third quarter.
Bloomberg report supports the September timeframe
The timing reported by German carriers closely matches earlier information published by Bloomberg. Last month, Bloomberg suggested that Apple was eyeing the week of 8 September for its annual product event, listing 8, 9, or 10 September as potential dates.
Apple has not officially confirmed any details regarding the event. However, the consistency between multiple sources strengthens the likelihood of a launch taking place during that week. Apple typically sends out official invitations about one week before its events, so that an announcement could be expected in late August.
More than just new iPhones expected
While the iPhone 17 will undoubtedly be the headline announcement, Apple is also expected to introduce updates to other product lines. Industry watchers anticipate the unveiling of new Apple Watch models during the event, with upgrades to health tracking and battery life rumoured.
Additionally, there is speculation that Apple may unveil a new generation of AirPods. The company last updated its standard AirPods in 2021, and a refreshed version with improved audio quality and better integration with iOS 18 could be introduced alongside the iPhones.
Apple’s autumn events often serve as a platform for multiple hardware announcements, and this year is expected to follow suit. With the launch of iOS 18 already announced at the company’s Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) earlier this year, September’s event will likely focus on the hardware designed to take advantage of the software’s new features.
