Apple unveils MacBook Air with M4 chip, new Sky Blue colour, and lower prices

Apple unveils the MacBook Air with the M4 chip, a Sky Blue colour, and lower prices. Pre-orders are open now, and retail availability will be on March 12.

Apple has officially updated its MacBook Air lineup with the new M4 chip, a fresh Sky Blue colour option, and a price drop. This long-anticipated upgrade brings more power, better multitasking, and a sleeker look to the popular laptop.

Faster performance and improved display support

Both the 13-inch and 15-inch MacBook Air models now feature Apple’s latest M4 chip. This powerful processor includes 10 CPU cores and up to 10 GPU cores, making the laptop up to twice as fast as the previous M1-powered MacBook Air.

Memory has also been upgraded. The base models now come with 16GB of RAM as standard, with an option to increase to 32 GB. Storage still starts at 256GB, but those needing more space can upgrade to a maximum of 2TB.

Good news for those who use multiple screens: The new MacBook Air now supports two external displays and a built-in screen. The previous model could only run two external monitors if the laptop lid was closed.

Upgraded camera and a fresh new colour

Apple has also improved the FaceTime camera. The new 12MP camera now supports Centre Stage, which automatically keeps you in the frame during video calls, and Desk View, which lets you share your workspace with others.

Aesthetic changes include a new Sky Blue colour. This metallic light blue finish joins the existing Midnight, Starlight, and Silver options. It’s a subtle but stylish addition that many Apple fans will appreciate.

Pricing, availability, and final thoughts

Despite these upgrades, the MacBook Air remains the same lightweight and thin laptop. It still features a Liquid Retina display and two USB-C Thunderbolt 4 ports. However, it supports only Wi-Fi 6E and is not compatible with Wi-Fi 7.

The new models are available for pre-order now and will be in stores on March 12. Apple has also reduced prices. The 13-inch MacBook Air now starts at US$1,099, while the 15-inch model starts at US$1,299—both US$100 cheaper than before.

You can pre-order through the Apple Online Store, and soon, the laptops will also be available at Apple’s official stores in Lazada and Shopee.

These are small but welcome improvements to what is already one of the best laptops for most users. With more power, better multitasking, and a stylish new colour, the MacBook Air just got even better.
