Helldivers 2’s next Warbond brings a fiery new arsenal

Helldivers 2's new Warbond, Freedom’s Flame, adds fiery weapons and armour, available August 8 with a major update.

Arrowhead Game Studios has been diligently updating Helldivers 2 since its release, using Warbonds to introduce new weapons, cosmetics, and armour. Each Warbond is themed around a specific fantasy, such as the 80s-inspired Viper Commanders. The upcoming Warbond, Freedom’s Flame, focuses heavily on a classic weapon of war: fire.

A new fiery arsenal

Fire weapons are already a part of Helldivers 2, offering a risky but rewarding strategy on the battlefield. The next Warbond, Freedom’s Flame, promises a range of new fire-based weapons. The SG-451 Cookout is a pump-action shotgun equipped with incendiary phosphorous pellets. The FLAM-66 Torcher is a lightweight flamethrower, offering a more economical choice than the Flamethrower Stratagem. For a more compact option, the new secondary weapon, the P-72 Crisper, is a pocket-sized flamethrower perfect for short distances.

Protective gear and enhancements

The new armour sets are a welcome addition for those concerned about friendly fire. These sets provide a bonus of 75% resistance to fire, which will indeed reduce the number of complaints from fellow players about being inadvertently set ablaze. Additionally, a new booster ignites the ground when Hellpods land, increasing the landing equipment’s lethality against bots and bugs.

Exciting times ahead

Freedom’s Flame Warbond is set to go live on August 8. It will be released alongside Helldivers 2’s major update, Escalation of Freedom, scheduled for August 6. This period is exciting for fans of the co-op shooter, with Arrowhead Game Studios teasing more surprises to come, such as the mysterious black hole emitting whale noises over at Meridia.
