iMessage service resumes after a brief outage

iMessage service resumes after a brief outage affecting users globally across multiple carriers.

iMessage users experienced a temporary interruption this Thursday evening as many iPhone owners encountered a “not delivered” notification when attempting to send texts. The issue affected users across various wireless carriers, including Verizon, AT&T, and T-Mobile, and spanned multiple countries and continents.

Outage details and resolution

During the outage, the Apple Services status page initially showed no disruptions, leaving users puzzled. However, it was later updated to reflect that the service had been disrupted. The reported problems began at approximately 5:39 PM ET and were resolved by 6:35 PM ET, affecting not only iMessage but also Apple Messages for Business, FaceTime, and HomeKit.

Current status and response

As of now, all systems appear to be operational, with normal service resumed as per user reports and observations on social media. Apple has yet to issue a formal statement or response to inquiries regarding the cause or details of the service interruption.

While the outage was brief, it prompted some international users to suggest alternatives like WhatsApp for reliable messaging. Despite the temporary inconvenience, iMessage services have returned to normal.
