MSI unveils gaming monitor with three switchable resolution and refresh rate modes
MSI unveils a 31.5-inch OLED gaming monitor with three switchable resolution and refresh rate modes.
MSI has introduced a new OLED gaming monitor that can switch between three different resolution and refresh rate combinations, a feature the company says is a first for the industry. The announcement was made ahead of Computex 2026, one of the technology sector’s largest trade events, which begins on 2 June.

The new display, officially named the MPG OLED 322URDX36, features a 31.5-inch OLED panel and is designed for both visually demanding games and competitive esports titles. Unlike existing gaming monitors, which typically offer only two display modes, MSI’s latest model lets users choose from three performance settings tailored to their gaming needs.
The monitor can operate at 4K resolution with a 360Hz refresh rate, 2K resolution with a 520Hz refresh rate, or Full HD resolution with a 680Hz refresh rate. This flexibility is intended to give gamers the option to prioritise image quality or maximum speed, depending on the type of game being played.
Triple Mode technology targets different gaming styles
The standout feature of the MPG OLED 322URDX36 is MSI’s new Triple Mode technology. The system allows users to switch between three performance profiles without changing displays, offering a broader range of options than traditional dual-mode gaming monitors.
For graphically intensive AAA games, users can select the 4K 360Hz setting to enjoy higher image detail while maintaining a high refresh rate. Players focused on fast-paced competitive titles can switch to either the 2K 520Hz or Full HD 680Hz modes, which are designed to deliver smoother motion and quicker visual updates.
High refresh rates have become increasingly important in esports and competitive gaming, where rapid reactions and precise timing can influence match outcomes. By offering multiple performance options in a single monitor, MSI aims to appeal to a wider range of players, from casual gamers to professional competitors.
The company has not provided detailed information about how quickly the monitor can switch between modes or whether the feature will require manual configuration. However, MSI has positioned Triple Mode as a key innovation for gamers seeking greater flexibility from a single display.
New OLED technologies focus on image quality
Alongside its variable refresh rate capabilities, the MPG OLED 322URDX36 features several new display technologies to enhance visual performance and everyday usability.
One of these features is MSI’s Penta Tandem technology, which the company describes as a five-layer panel structure. According to MSI, this design helps minimise colour fringing, a visual issue sometimes associated with OLED displays that can affect text clarity and image sharpness. The company says the technology is intended to make on-screen text easier to read while maintaining strong colour accuracy.
The monitor also incorporates a DarkArmor Film layer. MSI claims this feature can improve black levels by up to 40 per cent, enhancing contrast and overall picture quality. The protective layer is also designed to increase resistance to scratches, potentially improving durability over the long term.
OLED technology has become increasingly popular in gaming monitors because of its ability to deliver deep blacks, high contrast ratios and fast response times. Manufacturers have continued to introduce new panel technologies to address concerns such as text clarity, brightness and longevity, areas that MSI appears to be targeting with its latest display.
Bright display and modern connectivity options
MSI has also equipped the MPG OLED 322URDX36 with specifications aimed at high-end gaming and content consumption. The monitor can reach a peak brightness of 1,500 nits, delivering brighter highlights and improved visibility in supported high dynamic range (HDR) content.
For connectivity, the display includes a DisplayPort 2.1a interface and a USB-C port. These modern connection standards are intended to support the high-bandwidth requirements of the monitor’s advanced resolution and refresh rate combinations.
Although MSI revealed several technical details during its Computex preview, it has not announced pricing or availability. No release date has been confirmed, and it remains unclear when the monitor will reach retail markets.
Visitors attending Computex 2026 will have the opportunity to see the MPG OLED 322URDX36 in person at MSI’s exhibition booth. The event opens on 2 June and is expected to feature a wide range of announcements from major technology manufacturers showcasing upcoming products for consumers and businesses.
