The limited US$149.99 Founders Edition of the SuperStation One has already sold out, but you can still preorder the standard edition for US$179.99, discounted from its usual price of US$225. Shipping is expected to start in “Q4 or Earlier.”

More than just a PS One clone

At first glance, the SuperStation One mirrors the iconic design of the PS One, complete with ports that work with original PlayStation controllers and memory cards. However, its capabilities go far beyond nostalgia. Unlike traditional emulators, the SuperStation One uses a custom MiSTER FPGA (field-programmable gate array) system. This allows it to function like the original hardware of classic consoles, delivering an authentic gaming experience.

The SuperStation One supports an impressive range of systems, from the Atari 5200 and NES to the Sega Saturn and PlayStation. Retro Remake has equipped the console with a 64GB microSD card, three USB-A ports, an Ethernet port, and an NFC reader, which can load specific games with a simple tap.

The SuperStation One includes an HDMI port and retro gaming options like VGA, DIN10, composite, and component ports for connectivity. It also offers a 3.5mm headphone jack and a digital audio port, ensuring various setup possibilities for retro and modern players.

Expansion options and plans for the future

Retro Remake has designed the SuperStation One with expansion in mind. The console includes a slot for its upcoming SuperDock accessory, which adds a slot-loading disc drive, a 2280 M.2 SSD bay, and four additional USB-A ports. While the SuperDock isn’t available for preorder, you can reserve your spot with a US$5 deposit when ordering the SuperStation One.

The console comes in three colour options: black, grey, and translucent blue. This marks Retro Remake’s first foray into console manufacturing, but the company has hinted at plans for more projects in the future. In the past, they’ve released a DIY kit to upgrade the Nintendo Switch Lite to an OLED display, which gained attention among modding enthusiasts.

Whether you’re a hardcore retro gamer or simply a fan of classic consoles, the SuperStation One offers a unique blend of nostalgia and innovation.
