Samsung Galaxy A56 leaks in full ahead of expected launch

Samsung’s Galaxy A56 has been leaked from all angles, revealing design changes, upgraded cameras, and a possible March launch to rival Apple and Google.

Samsung’s upcoming mid-range smartphone, the Galaxy A56, has been leaked from all angles, giving you a full preview before its expected launch in March. Leaker Evan Blass, also known as evleaks, has shared a series of spinning GIFs that showcase the phone in four colours: silver, pink, black, and pale green. These new images confirm key design changes, including a thicker bottom bezel, a redesigned camera setup, and a slightly raised button island.

The Galaxy A56 features a flat-edged frame, a design choice seen in previous leaks from Android Headlines in November 2024. Samsung’s renders, spotted on China’s TENAA certification site, also align with these latest images, making it highly likely that this is the final design. The phone’s rear cameras now sit together on a black-backed island, giving it a distinct look. Meanwhile, the power and volume buttons are no longer flush with the frame but slightly raised, offering a more tactile feel.

Expected specifications and features

While the design is mostly confirmed, the internal specifications remain less specific. An early Geekbench listing, believed to be linked to the Galaxy A56, suggests that Samsung’s Exynos 1580 chipset will power the phone. Other certification leaks indicate a large 5,000mAh battery with support for 45W wired charging. This would be a surprising upgrade, considering that Samsung’s premium Galaxy S25 still charges a slower 25W speed.

Camera-wise, reports from GalaxyClub suggest that the A56 will feature a 50-megapixel main camera, a 12-megapixel ultrawide lens, and a 5-megapixel macro sensor, similar to previous A-series models. However, the front camera is expected to be upgraded, with a new 12-megapixel sensor replacing the older 32-megapixel version. This change could mean improved selfies and better video call quality.

Competing with Apple and Google

The Galaxy A56 is expected to launch alongside more budget-friendly models, including the Galaxy A36 and A26. Samsung released its last four A-series generations in mid-March, so this year’s lineup will likely follow the same schedule.

One of the biggest questions is whether the Galaxy A56 will be available in the US. Samsung’s previous A54 model, priced at US$449, was well-received in the country, but its successor, the A55, did not reach the US market. With Apple and Google preparing to launch midrange devices around the same time—Apple’s new iPhone SE is expected within days, while Google’s Pixel 9a is tipped for a March release—Samsung may want to ensure it has a strong presence in the US this year.

With the leaks now revealing the phone’s design and expected features, Samsung must confirm the details officially. If the A56 launches in March as expected, it will enter a highly competitive market, facing off against strong rivals in the midrange category.
