Smart Communications acquires Joisto to strengthen cloud archival capabilities

Smart Communications acquires Joisto to expand cloud-based customer conversation and archival solutions, strengthening its leadership in CCM and IXM.

Smart Communications has announced the acquisition of Joisto, a cloud data archive company, as part of efforts to expand its Conversation Cloud platform. This development will provide customers with the ability to securely store, manage, and retrieve digital records and documents while meeting strict regulatory requirements across various industries.

Expansion of customer communication and storage solutions

Based in Singapore, Smart Communications is known for its cloud-based platform that manages customer communications at scale. The acquisition of Joisto will now allow the company to extend its offering by adding compliant, cloud-based archival solutions.

“We’re delighted to incorporate Joisto’s deep expertise in cloud archival into Smart Communications,” said Leigh Segall, CEO of Smart Communications. “Our leading Conversation Cloud Platform already enables our customers to manage sophisticated customer conversations at tremendous scale. With the addition of Joisto, we will extend these capabilities to meet an increasing need for regulatory-compliant and readily accessible storage of these conversations in the cloud. Together we will support customers worldwide as they continue their journey to modernise and transform customer conversations.”

Joisto’s platform is built to integrate smoothly across a wide range of corporate ecosystems through a comprehensive set of APIs. This enables users to store and retrieve documents easily, no matter the source system. Its strong data-ingestion capabilities and modern, scalable cloud architecture ensure that it can handle large volumes of documents, with access possible from any location. The system also prioritises compliance, supporting GDPR and enhancing document integrity, authorisation, and user validation processes.

Strategic alignment and growth

Joisto’s CEO, Tommi Hänninen, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership. “Joisto is thrilled to join forces with Smart Communications,” he said. “We deeply understand the importance of archival in regulated industries and we are especially proud to partner with an organisation that is equally passionate about providing industry-leading capabilities through a modern, cloud-based architecture. The combination of Smart Communications and Joisto represents an exciting step forward for both companies and our customers.”

The acquisition follows a period of rapid growth for Smart Communications. The company has continued to strengthen its leadership in Customer Communications Management (CCM) and Interaction Experience Management (IXM), gaining the trust of organisations in healthcare, financial services, insurance, and government sectors. Industry analyst firms, including IDC, Aspire, Aragon, Datos, and Celent, have recognised Smart Communications for its strong vision, effective cloud strategy, and innovation in product development.

Future plans for integration

By bringing Joisto into its portfolio, Smart Communications aims to further enhance the Conversation Cloud platform. The company plans to continue partnering with leading platform vendors globally to make customer conversations and archival processes even more seamless.

The integration of Joisto’s capabilities will not only improve compliance and storage solutions for enterprises but will also support Smart Communications’ broader mission to help organisations modernise how they interact with their customers in an increasingly digital world.
