xAI’s Grok chatbot now lets you ask questions about what you see

Grok’s new Vision tool lets iPhone users ask questions about what they see. Updates also add real-time voice search and memory features.

Good news if you love using AI tools on your phone. xAI’s Grok chatbot now has a new feature called Grok Vision, which will change how you interact with the world around you.

Grok Vision gives your phone camera a brain. You can now point your camera at everyday things—like a product on a shelf, a road sign, or even a document—and Grok will tell you more about what you’re looking at. Whether you’re shopping, traveling, or just curious, this tool can help you get instant answers without typing a thing.

What Grok Vision can do for you?

Grok Vision is now available through the Grok app on iOS. Open the app, turn on the camera feature, and start pointing at whatever catches your eye. Want to know what brand of trainers someone is wearing? Are you curious about a sign written in another language? Are you trying to make sense of a menu while abroad? Just ask Grok.

Right now, Grok Vision is only available on iPhones. If you’re an Android user, you’ll have to wait a bit longer—there’s no set date for when it will roll out on Android devices.

But that’s not all xAI has in store.

More new tools to explore

Alongside Grok Vision, xAI has added real-time search and multilingual audio features to Grok’s voice mode. These updates mean you can now speak to Grok in different languages and get instant results. Whether you’re asking for a translation or trying to find something online, the experience is smoother and faster.

These voice tools are available to Android users, but there’s a catch—you must subscribe to the SuperGrok plan, which costs US$30 per month. That gives you access to premium features like voice mode, language support, and real-time searching.

xAI aims to keep up with other major AI platforms like Google’s Gemini and ChatGPT, which also offer camera-based tools and voice interaction. By adding these features, Grok is quickly becoming more than just a chatbot—it’s starting to act more like a digital assistant you can carry in your pocket.

A chatbot that’s learning more every day

Earlier in June, xAI gave Grok another useful update: memory. This means Grok can now remember key details from past chats, making future conversations more natural and helpful. This is a big step forward if you’ve ever wanted an assistant who remembers your preferences.

Grok also got a new tool that feels like a mix of a notepad and a creative space. You can now use a canvas-like interface to build documents or even simple apps, all within the Grok platform.

As Grok grows, it’s becoming clear that xAI wants this chatbot to be your go-to tool for tasks, questions, and creativity. Whether snapping photos, chatting in another language, or creating on the fly, Grok is better equipped to help you do it all.
