Amazon has unveiled a refreshed version of its Luna game streaming service, now featuring a range of beginner-friendly multiplayer titles playable on a smartphone. The updated platform, available at no additional cost for Prime members, aims to make gaming more accessible and social.
New focus on multiplayer gaming
The most notable update to Amazon Luna is the introduction of GameNight, a new section offering more than 25 local multiplayer games. According to Amazon, these titles are “designed to bring friends and family together in the living room,” reflecting the company’s push towards community-based entertainment.
Among the standout additions is Courtroom Chaos: Starring Snoop Dogg, an exclusive title from Amazon Game Studios. The game uses AI-driven voice technology to create a humorous courtroom scenario in which players invent eccentric characters, weave imaginative stories, and attempt to defend their cases before Judge Snoop Dogg.
Other GameNight games include well-known names such as Angry Birds Flock Party, Draw & Guess, The Jackbox Party Pack 9, Ticket to Ride, Exploding Kittens 2, Clue, and Tetris Effect: Connected. With this selection, Amazon aims to encourage casual and social play that appeals to both seasoned gamers and newcomers.
Jeff Gattis, general manager of Amazon Luna, said in a statement, “GameNight takes even further the idea of easy access that’s core to the new Luna, delivering a collection of entertaining and approachable games that absolutely shine when played together with friends and family. Anyone with a smartphone can dive right in and have a blast, regardless of their gaming abilities.”
Expanding the library with new and classic titles
Beyond GameNight, the revamped Luna service includes a growing library of major titles and indie favourites. Games such as Hogwarts Legacy, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, Kingdom Come: Deliverance II, and TopSpin 2K25 are now available to stream. These titles, along with others outside the GameNight catalogue, require either a controller or a mouse and keyboard for play.
The addition of high-profile releases suggests Amazon’s continued effort to compete with established cloud gaming services such as Xbox Cloud Gaming and Nvidia GeForce Now. Luna’s emphasis on both premium and family-friendly content positions it as a versatile platform for a wide range of players.
Subscription options and availability
For users seeking access to a broader range of games, Amazon offers a paid subscription, Luna Premium (formerly Luna+). Priced at US$9.99 per month, the plan grants access to a more extensive selection of titles, including EA SPORTS FC 25, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, and Batman: Arkham Knight.
With these updates, Amazon is refining its cloud gaming approach by integrating social features with easy-to-use controls. The ability to join multiplayer sessions with only a smartphone could make Luna an appealing option for casual gatherings, family nights, and users seeking quick entertainment without expensive hardware.
As Amazon continues to expand its cloud gaming ecosystem, Luna’s latest iteration signals a renewed commitment to accessibility, creativity, and community-focused gameplay.
