Apple raises AppleCare+ prices for Macs and iPads
Apple has increased AppleCare+ prices for new Mac and iPad purchases following recent hardware price rises.
Apple has increased the cost of AppleCare+ protection plans for new Mac and iPad purchases, following recent price rises across much of its hardware range. The latest increase affects monthly and annual AppleCare+ subscriptions for eligible Mac, MacBook and iPad models.

According to a Bloomberg report, the company has raised AppleCare+ prices by US$0.50 per month or US$5 per year. The increase applies only to new AppleCare+ subscriptions, meaning customers with an existing active plan will continue paying their current rate. Apple’s recently introduced AppleCare One subscription, which allows users to cover up to three devices under a single plan, is not affected by the latest pricing changes.
Apple extends recent price increases to device protection
The higher AppleCare+ prices follow a broader increase in Apple’s hardware prices announced last month. Several Mac and iPad models became more expensive, with entry-level and premium devices alike seeing noticeable price adjustments.
The standard iPad now starts at US$449, up US$100. Meanwhile, the 13-inch iPad Pro has risen by US$200 to US$1,499. Apple’s Mac lineup has also seen significant changes. The MacBook Neo now starts at US$699, up US$100, while the 15-inch MacBook Air has increased by US$200 to US$1,499. At the top end of the range, the M5 Max MacBook Pro now costs US$4,099, representing a US$500 increase over its previous price.
So far, these pricing changes have not extended to Apple’s iPhone range or several other product categories. However, the increase in AppleCare+ pricing suggests that the company is aligning the cost of its protection plans with the higher value of its devices.
Customers purchasing new Macs or iPads will therefore need to consider both the higher upfront cost of the hardware and the increased price of optional coverage.
New AppleCare+ rates apply only to future purchases
Apple has confirmed that the revised AppleCare+ pricing only applies to newly purchased plans. Existing subscribers will continue to pay the amount agreed upon when they first enrolled, provided their coverage remains active under the current terms.
This means customers who already have AppleCare+ on their devices will not see any immediate changes to their monthly or annual payments. The adjustment only affects people who buy a new eligible Mac or iPad and add AppleCare+ after the revised pricing takes effect.
The company’s newer AppleCare One plan also remains unchanged. Introduced as a multi-device option, the subscription allows customers to protect up to three Apple devices under a single plan, offering an alternative to purchasing separate AppleCare+ coverage for each product.
By leaving AppleCare One unchanged, Apple continues to position it as a potentially more cost-effective choice for customers who own several Apple devices.
Coverage remains the same despite higher prices
Although the cost has increased, the benefits included with AppleCare+ remain unchanged. Apple describes the service by stating, “AppleCare+ is an insurance policy covering you during the policy period for repairs or replacement of your covered Apple device in the event of accidental damage or battery depletion, and it gives priority access to telephone technical support from Apple.”
The updated pricing means, for example, that AppleCare+ for a 13-inch MacBook Air now costs US$7.99 per month instead of US$7.49. Customers choosing to pay annually will now pay US$80 rather than US$75.
The latest adjustment represents a relatively small increase compared with the recent rise in hardware prices. Nevertheless, buyers purchasing a new Mac or iPad will now face higher costs for both the device itself and the optional protection plan. At the same time, existing AppleCare+ customers can continue at their current pricing.
