Cloudera has introduced a major update to its data platform that brings together Trino, Cloudera Shared Data Experience and Cloudera Octopai Data Lineage to improve access, governance and visibility across enterprise data environments. The company said the update strengthens its approach to delivering AI-driven automation and secure data access across cloud, on-premises and hybrid deployments.
Improving access and governance across distributed data
Cloudera stated that many organisations remain limited by fragmented systems that restrict how data can be used for AI. It cited survey findings showing that only a small proportion of IT leaders have full access to their organisation’s data, with most still relying on disconnected platforms and inconsistent governance rules.
The latest release aims to help enterprises address these gaps without moving their data. Trino’s federation capabilities allow teams to query distributed sources using natural language interfaces and the processing engines closest to the data. At the same time, Cloudera’s centralised governance framework maintains consistent controls and compliance across environments, creating a single point of access for all data.
The company said this approach allows organisations to break down silos, improve efficiency and establish the confidence needed to support AI projects at scale.
Expanding AI-driven automation across the data fabric
Cloudera has emphasised that AI is woven into the core of its platform. The update introduces expanded automation features for data quality checks, classification and profiling, reducing the volume of manual work required for data management tasks. Natural language access is also included to make enterprise data available to both technical and non-technical teams.
According to the company, customers can now deploy Trino across data centres or public clouds, with certified connectors enabling federated access to multiple systems. Integration with SDX unifies metadata and access controls, simplifying administration and strengthening security for self-service users.
Cloudera Octopai Data Lineage extends oversight beyond the company’s own ecosystem, tracking the full journey of data across systems. The company said this creates transparency and traceability for all transformations and supports stronger auditability across the organisation.
Supporting enterprise AI initiatives
Cloudera described the unified platform as a foundation for enterprises aiming to accelerate innovation with AI. With automation, governance and access consolidated under one platform, the company said organisations can improve trust in their data and scale AI initiatives more confidently.
“Our mission at Cloudera has always been to empower enterprises to make trusted data available for every AI initiative,” said Leo Brunnick, Chief Product Officer at Cloudera. “With this release, we’re taking a major step forward, bringing AI-powered automation, governance, and access together under one platform. Enterprises can now securely harness all their data anywhere to accelerate innovation and drive better business outcomes.”
The announcement was made during Cloudera’s EVOLVE25 event in Dubai.
