Google Pixel 9a: Affordable powerhouse launching in Singapore this April

The Google Pixel 9a will launch in Singapore in April 2025. It features a Tensor G4 chip, AI-powered camera tools, and a starting price of S$799.

Google is set to launch the Pixel 9a in Singapore, offering an affordable alternative to its flagship Pixel 9 series while maintaining key software features and a powerful processor. The midrange phone, available in April 2025, comes with the same Google Tensor G4 chip found in the flagship models, making it an attractive option for those seeking high performance at a lower price.

A powerful camera and AI features

The Pixel 9a boasts a 48MP main camera and a 13MP ultrawide camera, marking the first time Google has introduced Macro Focus to its A-series devices. You’ll also get familiar camera software features, including Add Me for improved group photos, Night Sight for low-light photography, and a suite of AI-powered tools like Best Take, Photo Unblur, and the Magic Editor for seamless image enhancements.

The Pixel 9a also has built-in Gemini AI, providing features such as Gemini Live for interactive conversations and AI-driven capabilities in Gmail and Google Maps. Additionally, Google ensures long-term software and security updates through Pixel Drops, promising seven years of support—matching its flagship models.

Design and display improvements

Google has refined the Pixel 9a’s design, moving away from the previous Camera Bar in favour of a sleeker, pill-shaped rear camera cutout that sits more flush against the phone. The device retains IP68-rated water and dust resistance, ensuring durability for everyday use.

The phone’s 6.3-inch Actua Display offers a resolution of 2,424 x 1,080 pixels and a 20:9 aspect ratio. It supports a 60-120Hz refresh rate for smooth scrolling and gaming and a peak brightness of 2,700 nits for clear visibility in bright conditions. The on-display fingerprint sensor remains for added security and convenience.

Performance, battery, and connectivity

The Pixel 9a has 8GB of RAM and offers storage options of 128GB or 256GB. Its 5,100mAh battery powers the device and supports 23W wired charging and 7.5W Qi-certified wireless charging.

Connectivity options include Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.3, NFC, and 5G Sub-G connectivity support. The phone also offers dual-SIM compatibility, allowing users to use a nano-SIM and an eSIM for added flexibility.

The Google Pixel 9a will be available in four colours: Obsidian, Iris, Peony, and Porcelain. Pricing is set at S$799 for the 128GB variant and S$939 for the 256GB option. Customers can purchase the device from the Google Online Store and authorised retailers such as Amazon, COURTS, Singtel, Shopee, Lazada, Metapod, iShopChangi, Best Denki, and Atrix.

Google is also releasing official phone cases in matching colours, priced at S$45.99 each. The Pixel 9a will be available for purchase starting in April 2025.
