Google reveals Pixel 10 design ahead of official launch

Google teases the Pixel 10’s design ahead of its 20 August launch, showing a new rear camera and a familiar look in an early promotional video.

Google has once again chosen to stay ahead of product leaks by revealing the design of its upcoming Pixel 10 smartphone ahead of schedule. With the official launch event set for 20 August, the tech giant has already published a teaser video on its website showcasing the look of the standard Pixel 10 model.

The preview confirms many of the details that had previously surfaced through unofficial renders, including the addition of a third camera on the rear, which is rumoured to be a telephoto lens.

A familiar design with a new addition

The Pixel 10’s design appears to mirror that of its predecessor, the Pixel 9, closely. However, the most noticeable change is the addition of a third rear camera. While Google has not disclosed the exact specifications, industry insiders suggest that this could be a telephoto sensor, a feature previously reserved for higher-end models in the Pixel lineup.

The promotional video reveals the phone in a sleek greyish-blue colour, which observers have noted offers a subtle and stylish aesthetic. Other aspects of the phone’s external design, such as the placement of buttons and the signature horizontal camera bar, remain consistent with previous models.

Google has not yet provided details about the phone’s internal specifications, pricing, or availability. However, given the upcoming launch date, more information is expected to be revealed shortly.

Early reveals are becoming the norm

This is not the first time Google has released visuals of its new hardware before the official product announcement. The company followed a similar approach last year with the Pixel 9 Pro, revealing the phone’s appearance weeks before confirming its full specifications and features.

By publishing these early looks, Google is taking a proactive approach to managing product leaks, a common issue in the tech industry. The company’s decision to showcase its designs may help control the narrative and generate early interest without relying solely on leaks and unofficial sources.

Launch event scheduled for 20 August

The full reveal of the Pixel 10 is scheduled to take place on 20 August. At that time, Google is expected to share comprehensive details about the phone’s specifications, software updates, pricing, and release dates. The event may also include announcements for other Pixel products or Android features.

Until then, fans and tech enthusiasts can view the teaser video on Google’s official website. With just weeks remaining, the company’s strategy of teasing the design early may help build anticipation ahead of the official unveiling.
