Meta AI expands to the Middle East and Africa with Arabic language support

Meta AI expands to MENA, adding Arabic support and new features on WhatsApp, Instagram, and Messenger, reaching millions of new users.

Meta has officially expanded its AI-powered chatbot, Meta AI, to the Middle East and North Africa (MENA), making the technology accessible to millions of new users.

Meta AI reaches more users in MENA

In October, Meta revealed plans to launch Meta AI in several new countries, including Brazil and the UK. At the time, the company hinted at a gradual rollout to other regions, including MENA. That expansion has become a reality, bringing the chatbot to more people across the region.

Meta AI is now available in Algeria, Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Libya, Morocco, Saudi Arabia, Tunisia, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), and Yemen. Alongside this launch, Meta has introduced Arabic language support, making the chatbot more accessible to Arabic-speaking users.

How users can interact with Meta AI

You can access Meta AI by tagging @meta in a chat on platforms like Instagram, WhatsApp, and Messenger. The chatbot can help with various tasks, such as recommending nearby places to visit or suggesting songs for a road trip playlist. However, the availability of features may vary depending on the country.

Meta also plans to introduce new AI tools in the MENA region. These include “Imagine Me,” which creates stylised selfies, and an audio dubbing feature for Instagram Reels. These additions enhance the user experience by providing more creative and interactive AI-driven options.

Growing global presence

With this latest expansion, Meta AI is now available in 42 countries and supports 13 languages. Over 700 million people use the chatbot across Meta’s platforms, including WhatsApp, Instagram, Messenger, and Facebook.

However, not all features are available in every region. In some European countries, for instance, Meta AI is restricted to answering general questions on Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses due to strict data privacy regulations.

As Meta continues to expand its AI capabilities, the company clearly aims to make its chatbot a key part of digital interactions worldwide.
