OpenAI has introduced ChatGPT Go, a cost-friendly subscription plan designed to make its AI tools more accessible across Asia. The service is now available in 16 countries in the region, offering users many of ChatGPT’s most popular features at a more affordable price point. Pricing varies slightly by market to reflect local taxes and currency differences.
Subscribers to ChatGPT Go will have access to features such as higher message limits, image generation, file uploads, and memory, all powered by GPT-5, the company’s most advanced model. The new plan aims to give more people the opportunity to integrate AI into their daily lives, whether for translation, writing support, tutoring, or guidance on a wide range of topics.
Enhanced features for everyday users
ChatGPT Go offers several improvements over the free plan, including 10 times higher message limits, 10 times more daily image generations, and 10 times more daily file or image uploads. It also provides twice the memory length, enabling more personalised and context-aware conversations.
These enhancements are designed to support a broader range of use cases, from students seeking tutoring assistance to professionals using AI for work tasks. OpenAI hopes the plan will appeal to individuals who want more from ChatGPT but do not require the premium performance or professional tools offered in the higher tiers.
The new plan joins OpenAI’s existing subscription options. The Go plan is aimed at everyday users seeking more access at a lower cost, the Plus plan provides faster responses and priority access, and the Pro plan delivers professional-grade tools with near-unlimited scale and customisation.
Rising demand in Southeast Asia
The launch follows strong regional growth in ChatGPT usage. Across Southeast Asia, weekly active users have increased between 2.5 and 4 times across various countries. The Philippines and Vietnam are among the top five markets in the Asia-Pacific region by weekly active users, with younger users aged 18 to 34 making up the most active segment.
The early rollout of ChatGPT Go in India shows the potential impact of the new plan. Since its introduction, the number of paid subscribers in India has more than doubled in just one month, with highly positive feedback from users. OpenAI expects similar momentum across the wider Asia region as more users gain affordable access to advanced AI tools.
With ChatGPT Go, OpenAI aims to make AI more widely available, supporting a growing user base in Asia that is increasingly turning to AI for learning, productivity, and creative applications.
