Singapore’s music tech company, BandLab Technologies, has announced its acquisition of NME and Uncut from London-based TI Media. This is a year after British rock magazine, NME, published its final print edition. This acquisition is expected to complete by 31 May 2019 and involves the brands’ social, digital, print, and experiential assets.

BandLab previously owned 49% of Rolling Stone, before that brand was entirely sold to Penske Media Corporation (PMC) in January, making PMC the full owner.

This acquisition serves as an essential piece of UK music landscape, and it plays a vital role in continuing the company’s vision to create a connected world of music.

It’s anticipated that all NME and Uncut staff will transfer together with the sale and will continue to be based at the Blue Fin Building in London.

NME, or New Musical Express, was founded in 1952 as a music newspaper before turning into a magazine and eventually becoming an online-only publication in 2018. The pioneering publication is known for its extensive coverage of pop music trends and also created the first British singles chart. Uncut has been publishing monthly since its inception in 1997 and is expected to continue its publishing schedule.
