Valorant officially arrives on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S

Valorant launches on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, bringing tactical shooter action to consoles with new features and cross-progression.

Riot Games’ popular tactical shooter, Valorant, has officially launched on the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. This full release follows a successful limited beta period, during which console players in select regions could experience the acclaimed 5v5 game for free.

Available regions and requirements

You can now download the console version of Valorant in North America, Europe, Japan, and Brazil. If you’re in one of these regions and own an Xbox Series X/S or a PlayStation 5, you can access the game through your console’s online marketplace.

Valorant on consoles aims to provide the same thrilling gameplay and precise gunplay that PC players enjoy. Riot Games has made several adjustments to ensure a smooth transition to controller-based play. The new “Focus” shooting mode is a key feature that replaces the traditional ADS (Aim Down Sights) mode. This change helps balance the need for quick camera movement with the precision required for accurate shooting.

Despite the similarities in gameplay, Valorant maintains separate rank and MMR (matchmaking rating) systems for PC and console. This ensures fair platform competition, as the console and PC versions do not feature crossplay. However, the game does support cross-progression, meaning you can carry over skins and progress made from one platform to another.

Content and updates

The console version of Valorant includes all the heroes, abilities, and content available on the PC version. Riot Games is committed to providing simultaneous updates across all platforms, ensuring console players remain up-to-date with balance patches, new agents, and premium content.

If you are an Xbox Game Pass subscriber, you’ll receive exclusive Valorant benefits. These include access to all Agents, a 20% boost to progression, and other perks. This partnership enhances the gaming experience, allowing you to enjoy everything Valorant offers.

Future expansions

There has yet to be a mention of a release date for Valorant in the Asia region. Riot Games has not yet provided a timeline for when the game will be available there. For now, players from North America, Europe, Japan, and Brazil can dive into the console version and enjoy the tactical shooter experience.
