Android Auto bug is causing wireless connectivity issues

Android Auto users face wireless connectivity issues, with phones rebooting or failing to connect after recent updates. Google is investigating.

If you’re an Android Auto user, you may have noticed problems with wireless connectivity after recent updates. Many users have reported that their phones are rebooting when connecting wirelessly to their cars. Others say the wireless connection doesn’t work at all.

According to reports spotted by Android Authority on Reddit, users struggle to maintain a stable connection with their vehicles. Some say their phones restart unexpectedly during use, while others experience connection failures altogether.

Google has acknowledged the issue and that its team is “aware of the issue” and is “currently investigating a fix.” However, no timeline has been provided for a resolution.

No clear fix is available yet

Recently, many users have shared their frustrations on Google’s Android Auto community forums. As reported by 9to5Google, some devices can only connect to Android Auto via a wired connection. Others report that Bluetooth connections work briefly before dropping or that the system only connects wirelessly after restarting their phones.

One of the most frustrating issues is that Android Auto forces some phones to reboot randomly. Users say this can happen anytime, including during phone calls, while streaming music, or even when using navigation apps.

“The reboots happened when I was on a call while listening to YouTube Music and Libby books,” one Reddit user wrote. “It has happened when both plugged in and unplugged, and when I have been using GPS and also not.”

These connectivity issues are linked to the v13.4 and v13.5 Android Auto updates, which were released in January and February. However, it remains unclear if rolling back to an earlier software version resolves the problem. So far, users have not found a reliable workaround.

Google has yet to confirm the exact cause of the issue or provide an estimated time frame for a fix. You may need a wired connection if you rely on Android Auto until Google releases an update.
