Google offers Singapore students free one-year access to the AI Pro Plan

Singapore students can apply for a free one-year Google AI Pro Plan subscription powered by Gemini 2.5 Pro.

Singaporean students can now claim a free one-year subscription to Google’s AI Pro Plan, powered by Gemini 2.5 Pro, the company’s most advanced AI model. The scheme aims to support learning, research, and creative work by providing students in Singapore with access to premium generative AI tools at no charge for a full year.

Google aims to make AI a learning companion

A recent Deloitte survey found that 86 % of students in Singapore already use generative AI tools in their studies. Google’s new offer builds on this trend by making premium AI capabilities available to students at no cost. Those eligible will gain unlimited homework help and clear explanations across different subjects. The Deep Research feature of Gemini can turn complex lessons into easy-to-understand reports or provide podcast-style audio summaries.

Students will also receive enhanced access through NotebookLM, using it as a research and writing assistant with up to five times more access to notebooks and audio overviews. For multimedia work, they can use Veo 3 in Gemini and Flow to convert text or images into dynamic videos, ideal for assignments or creative projects. Integration with Google Docs, Sheets and Slides allows students to refine essays, analyse data or generate bespoke visuals for presentations. In addition, the plan includes 2 TB of secure cloud storage spanning Google Drive, Photos and Gmail, ensuring ample space for academic work and projects.

Students must meet eligibility and registration requirements

To qualify, students must be 18 or older and a resident of Singapore or another eligible country. They must verify their student status via SheerID upon request. Each student needs a personal Google account and a Google Payments account with a valid payment method when asked. They must subscribe to Google AI Pro through the Google Play Store. Applicants should not already have an active Google One subscription or be an existing Google One user on a plan higher than what is being offered.

Students in Singapore can visit the official Gemini for Students page to learn more and register before 9 December 2025. The free subscription lasts one year, after which regular pricing applies. Following the trial, the Google AI Pro Plan will cost S$28.99 per month for continued access.

The initiative strengthens digital learning opportunities

Singapore’s offer mirrors a similar move earlier this year in the United States, where eligible students received a year of free access to the Google One AI Premium plan, which includes Gemini Advanced (Gemini 2.5 Pro), NotebookLM and 2 TB of cloud storage.

Singapore’s education sector has long emphasised digital innovation, and this rollout arrives as both teachers and students increasingly adopt generative AI tools for academic writing, coding, and multimedia learning. The free plan provides students with direct access to Google’s advanced AI ecosystem, eliminating financial barriers. Beyond academics, the AI Pro Plan offers creative possibilities—from visual storytelling to data analytics—by enabling students to generate ideas, content and insights more swiftly and effectively.
