Mac-style tools are coming to iOS 19 and iPadOS 19 to boost productivity

Apple is planning Mac-style updates in iOS 19 and iPadOS 19 to boost productivity, with features expected at WWDC 2025.

If you enjoy using your iPad or iPhone for work, Apple may soon make things easier. According to recent reports, the next version of iPadOS and iOS will include new tools that bring a more Mac-like experience to your devices. These features are expected to help with multitasking and improve how you manage your apps and windows.

A Mac-like menu bar for iPads

One of the key changes expected in iPadOS 19 is a new menu bar that appears when your iPad is connected to a Magic Keyboard. This update is designed to make your iPad feel more like a laptop, similar to how macOS works. The news comes from tech tipster Majin Bu, who has shared details based on insider sources.

Another new feature likely to be included is Stage Manager 2.0. This updated version of Apple’s multitasking tool aims to make switching between apps and arranging windows much easier. When using a Magic Keyboard, you can move and resize windows more smoothly, giving you a better workflow and improved control.

iPhones with USB-C will get external display support

The iPhone won’t be left behind in this push for better productivity. If you have a newer iPhone with a USB-C port, you might soon be able to connect it to an external display. This will bring a new interface that works similarly to Stage Manager on the iPad.

While this might not give you a full desktop setup, it will allow you to extend your screen. You could use this to provide presentations, edit videos, or enjoy a larger view when watching content. However, depending on your device’s capabilities, there may be some limits—such as lower screen resolution or fewer apps running at once.

WWDC 2025 will reveal more big updates

These new features are expected to be showcased during WWDC 2025, Apple’s big developer event. The event, scheduled for the week of June 9, is shaping up to be a major moment for Apple’s software.

A full redesign is planned for iOS, iPadOS, macOS, and watchOS. Apple seems focused on making all its devices work better together, especially regarding productivity tools. Whether using a phone, tablet, computer, or watch, you can look forward to a more connected and easy-to-use experience across all your Apple products.

Apple hasn’t officially confirmed these updates yet, so it’s worth waiting for WWDC 2025 to see what’s in store. But if the reports are true, you’ll soon be able to do much more with your iPad and iPhone—especially if you like to use your device as a work tool.
