Nintendo launches a fun new alarm clock to help you wake up and sleep better

Nintendo's Alarmo adds fun to your morning routine with game-themed alarms, sleep sounds, and more. It launches in the US and Canada for US$99.99.

Nintendo has surprised fans by releasing an unexpected new piece of hardware, but it’s different from the much-anticipated Switch 2. Instead, Nintendo has launched a physical alarm clock called Alarmo. True to Nintendo’s playful style, this new device isn’t just a regular alarm clock—it aims to make waking up fun by incorporating gaming elements into your morning routine.

Whether you’re a gamer or not, this little gadget could excite your mornings.

Gamify your mornings with Alarmo

Alarmo is designed to make getting out of bed more enjoyable or motivating. When the alarm goes off, it doesn’t just play an ordinary beep or ring. Instead, it features music from various Nintendo games. But that’s not all – Alarmo is equipped with motion sensors to detect your bed movements. It adjusts its sound effects depending on how much you move, all inspired by your favourite Nintendo games.

If you leave bed promptly, Alarmo rewards you with a cheerful fanfare, as if you’ve just completed a mission in a game. However, if you stay in bed and ignore the alarm, Alarmo gradually becomes louder and more persistent, ensuring you’re up on time.

Nintendo themes for every wake-up

Alarmo includes alarms based on some of Nintendo’s most beloved games, such as Super Mario Odyssey, Pikmin 4, Splatoon 3, Ring Fit Adventure, and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. Each game comes with seven unique alarm settings, or “scenes,” which feature different combinations of music and sound effects to suit your preferences.

Nintendo has also promised to release additional game-themed alarms through free online updates. Titles like Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and Animal Crossing: New Horizons are expected to be added to the library, giving users more ways to customise their wake-up experience.

Not just for waking up

Alarmo isn’t just an alarm clock for getting you out of bed in the morning. It also offers features to help you wind down at night. You can use it to play soothing sleep sounds to relax before bed. Additionally, it can track your sleep patterns and provide data to help you understand and improve your sleep. For those who like a reminder during the day, Alarmo also plays a chime on the hour, helping you stay on schedule.

This fun, multifunctional clock will be released first in the US and Canada, where it will be priced at US$99.99. Nintendo plans to roll it out in other regions by early 2025.
