OPPO introduces Reno13 series with MediaTek Dimensity 8350

OPPO to launch the Reno13 series with the new MediaTek Dimensity 8350, promising major AI and gaming performance enhancements.

OPPO, a leading smart device brand, has announced that it will be the first to incorporate the MediaTek Dimensity 8350 into its upcoming Reno13 series. This collaboration marks a significant milestone in the partnership between OPPO and MediaTek, pushing the boundaries in terms of power efficiency, gaming, and AI capabilities.

Joint efforts yield powerful AI-smartphone chip

Both companies have come together to fine-tune the Dimensity 8350, a high-performance, energy-efficient AI-smartphone chip, which is produced using TSMC’s second-generation 4nm process. The chip includes MediaTek’s cutting-edge NPU, resulting in eight times faster generative AI processing and doubling the compute task performance. It supports large language models with up to 10 billion parameters and achieves a 3.3 times improvement in AI performance. This enhancement leads to a 20% increase in performance while reducing power consumption by 30% compared to its predecessors.

Garven Yin, OPPO Vice President and President of the Reno Product Line, expressed his enthusiasm about the collaboration: “The Reno13 series represents a leap in AI-powered smartphones. OPPO worked closely with MediaTek to achieve significant advancements in both power efficiency and performance, offering an unprecedented experience to Reno series users.”

Dr. Yenchi Lee, General Manager of the Wireless Communications Business Unit at MediaTek, highlighted the benefits of this powerful technology: “The MediaTek Dimensity 8350 provides OPPO with powerful technologies in AI, imaging, and gaming, allowing users to truly feel a more responsive smartphone with exciting AI-driven experiences in the new OPPO Reno13 Series.”

Enhanced AI capabilities and gaming performance

The Dimensity 8350 significantly enhances the AI capabilities of the Reno13 Series, which will also feature the new ColorOS 15. Its robust NPU 780 includes a generative AI engine, boosting the overall AI performance by 3.3 times compared to earlier models. This improvement significantly enriches user experiences in AI-powered imaging and gaming.

In terms of AI imaging, the Dimensity 8350 works in tandem with OPPO’s HyperTone Engine, enhancing multi-frame fusion for superior photo quality. The chip’s Mali-G615 6-core GPU also delivers a 60% increase in peak performance, enhancing efficiency by up to 55%, thus ensuring an exceptional gaming experience.

The OPPO Reno13 Series, powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 8350, is set to usher in a new era of AI innovation in smartphones. Stay tuned for its release.
