Sony brings True RGB backlighting to new BRAVIA 9 II and BRAVIA 7 II TVs
Sony introduces BRAVIA 9 II, BRAVIA 7 II and BRAVIA Theatre Trio with True RGB backlighting and Singapore pricing.
Sony Electronics Inc. has introduced its first BRAVIA True RGB televisions, led by the flagship BRAVIA 9 II and the BRAVIA 7 II. The new models use Sony’s RGB Backlight Master Drive Pro to control independently driven red, green, and blue light sources, allowing the TVs to produce the largest colour volume in Sony’s home TV history.

The company also introduced the BRAVIA Theatre Trio, a wireless home audio system designed for large-screen viewing. Together, the televisions and audio system extend Sony’s “Cinema is Coming Home” message across both picture and sound, with a focus on colour accuracy, higher brightness, and home theatre performance.
True RGB aims to improve colour and brightness in living rooms
The BRAVIA 9 II and BRAVIA 7 II use independently driven RGB LEDs instead of conventional Mini LED backlighting. Sony said this allows the TVs to improve brightness, reduce blooming, and deliver purer colour, while maintaining accurate reproduction from wider viewing angles and in brighter home environments.
“Sony has been advancing LED control for over 20 years from our first independent RGB light sources in the Qualia 005 [2004] through our flagship Backlight Master Drive premiering in 2016,” says Melvin Pang, President, Singapore Marketing Centre, Sony Electronics (Singapore) Pte. Ltd. “Our new True RGB represents a breakthrough that combines the precision of individually controlled RGB LEDs with the best aspects of both Mini LED and OLED, giving viewers purer colour, higher brightness, and picture accuracy that holds up in any room.”
The BRAVIA 9 II sits at the top of the range and adds newly developed LED controllers for finer backlight control. It also uses RGB Triluminos Max and Luminance Booster Pro to expand colour volume and maintain accurate hues at higher brightness levels. The model also features Immersive Black Screen Pro, a glare-free and low-reflection screen treatment designed to preserve deep blacks in bright living room environments, except on the 115-inch model.
The BRAVIA 7 II covers screen sizes from 50 to 98 inches, while the BRAVIA 9 II includes a 115-inch class option for large-format home cinema setups. Both True RGB models support X-Wide Angle Pro, My Cinema, Ambient Optimization, Studio Calibrated modes for selected platforms, Dolby Vision, Dolby Atmos, DTS:X, and IMAX Enhanced.
BRAVIA Theatre Trio expands Sony’s home cinema setup
The BRAVIA Theatre Trio is a three-speaker wireless theatre system built for ultra-large screens. It includes front, left, right, and centre speakers in a space-efficient design, with development input from Sony Pictures Entertainment sound creators.
The system uses Sony’s 360 Spatial Sound Mapping technology to generate up to 24 phantom speakers, creating a wider sound field from the existing speaker layout. Sony said the technology draws on studies of professional studio acoustics and film production listening environments.
“Sound design is integral to the cinematic experience and often drives the visceral impact of a scene,” said Tony Lamberti, Academy Award–nominated sound mixer. “The spatiality of the BRAVIA Theatre Trio is exceptional; it fully envelops you in sound and delivers a truly immersive, cinematic experience in the home.”
The BRAVIA Theatre Trio supports Dolby Atmos, DTS:X, and IMAX Enhanced for compatible content. It can also be expanded with optional subwoofers and rear speakers, including dual subwoofer configurations. A new USB Type C microphone supports room calibration when used with a smartphone that has a USB Type C port.
Sony also introduced Direct Connect, which allows compatible BRAVIA TVs to pair directly with optional wireless subwoofers and rear speakers without requiring a soundbar.
