Apple reveals iPhone 16 launch details for Singapore: Pricing and availability

Discover the new Apple iPhone 16 features, prices, and availability, including enhanced performance, new colours, and upgraded camera systems.

Apple has officially announced the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus, marking a significant upgrade compared to their predecessors. If you’ve been holding on to an iPhone 14 or older, these new models bring enough enhancements to make an upgrade worthwhile, even though the physical design remains unchanged. The enhancements include exciting new colour options, enhanced processing power, and a revamped camera system. Let’s look at what’s new this year for the iPhone 16 and 16 Plus.

New colours and better performance

One of the most talked-about features of the iPhone 16 is its striking new colour options, which include Ultramarine, Teal, Pink, and Black. These vibrant hues offer a fresh look for Apple’s latest device. But it’s not just about appearances—the iPhone 16 also introduces several important performance improvements.

The new A18 processor under the hood delivers faster performance, especially in gaming, with the ability to run AAA titles previously only available on the iPhone 15 Pro. The iPhone 16 models are the first in the standard lineup to be built for Apple Intelligence, thanks to this powerful new processor.

Another feature worth noting is the all-new Camera Control button, which makes it easier to take stunning photos by giving you more control over your shots. The camera has seen a significant upgrade, now offering a 48MP Fusion system with macro photography support. This system provides higher-quality images, more detailed close-up shots, and improved overall photography.

Durability and charging speed

Durability is another area where the iPhone 16 stands out. The new models come with tougher Ceramic Shield glass, which offers better protection against drops and impacts than previous generations. Apple has also improved the device’s charging capabilities, with support for faster 25W MagSafe wireless charging, making it quicker to power up your phone.

The new iPhone models also include the Action button, a feature that first appeared on the iPhone 15 Pro models. This button allows you to customise actions, such as turning on the camera, activating the torch, or starting a voice memo, with just a quick press. Additionally, spatial photos and videos, previously only available on the iPhone 15 Pro, are now part of the standard iPhone 16 and 16 Plus.

Are the new iPhones more expensive?

Surprisingly, the new iPhone 16 models are more affordable than last year’s iPhone 15 series at launch. For instance, the iPhone 16 Plus 256GB is S$60 cheaper than last year’s iPhone 15 Plus at launch. The savings are even greater for the higher-end models. For example, the iPhone 16 Pro Max 1TB is up to S$140 cheaper than last year’s equivalent model. This price reduction across the range is a welcome surprise for those looking to upgrade without breaking the bank.

If you’re eager to get your hands on the iPhone 16, pre-orders will begin at 8 PM on September 13, with general availability and retail sales starting September 20. You can place your pre-orders for the iPhone 16 and 16 Plus, as well as the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max, through Apple’s official channels.

The iPhone 16 models are set to be a hit with new buyers and those looking to upgrade, thanks to the combination of new features, improved performance, and lower pricing.
